Incredible!. The very few poor reveiws must have just been unfortunate to have gone on a "bad night" Unfornately, even the best of restaurants have them. I think this place is great! First off, it's 1 block away so it's conveinient. It's got a nice little outdoor patio, and being on Dearborn at Division, makes for great people watching! Everything I've eaten there has been incredibly fresh and delicious. Service was prompt and knowledgeable. And as another reveiw had stated, there's plenty of "non sushi" entrees to choose from for those not keen on it, but geez, who isn't these days! The saki lounge upstairs is very trendy feeling, with indudtrial music and lots of couches to chill on before hitting the clubs. Very sex and the city'esque. It is a bit tight between tables, but I can live with that. And best of all, if I'm feeling really lazy...they deliver!
So Love this place!!. Besides the fact that I go to the Tsunami Mommies on Mondays, this place is wonderful. It is a great place to bring friends from out of town for the food and the ambience. The sushi is great and the menu has many options for those who do not like sushi, making it a perfect place. My husband loves the filet and I just love going!
Hip Japanese eatery draws Gold Coast crowds for sushi and other Asian fare..
In Short
Japanese design reigns here, with high ceilings throughout, colorful murals, painted walls and a hip atmosphere. The place fills up on weekend nights--making reservations is a good idea, especially for the sushi bar--but the staff, black-clad and midriff-baring, remain polite. The menu includes a large selection of sushi, plus soups, salads, appetizers and entrees, from a teriyaki sampler with shrimp to charred peppercorn-crusted tuna loin.
Yummy!. I've only eaten here once but it was the best Japanese food I had ever eaten. The seafood was fresh and and the tempura was light, not greasy.
Not the best, Not the worst.
Now this was the only sushi place I visited in Chicago, but I was very unimpressed. It was loud and not at all private. I felt like I was having dinner with everyone in the room.
Their menu was nothing to get excited about.
My husband really enjoyed his sushi, I had only rolls and eel, but it was very blah and the fish was soggy. We had tempura and it was so oily, I am used to it not at all oily. They did have a couple unusual veggies with it, broccoli was good.
Good valet service.
One of my favorite place.. I really enjoyed the food in this establishment. Was recommended by my girlfriend and tried them for the first time. No words can't describe how pleased I was with the food.
Sushi Heaven. This sushi resturant is a very comfortable setting and the variety of sushi is enormous. The best deal on the sushi is to get one of the sushi combinations off the menu if you order a la carte it can get pretty expensive. The way that everything is served is interesting with all the different type of tray and serving devices they have. The sushi itself is the tastest in the city.
Still a Favorite!!!!. The saying goes...Fine wines get better with time. This is the same with Tsunami. I've been there numerous times within the past 6 months and every time I go the food and service has been terrific.
fresh!. This restaurant is tucked inconspicuously along Dearborn just south of Division - but the sushi couldn't be more outstanding! Expect large, tender pieces if you order nigiri, expertly prepared and artistically presented appetizers, and delicious combinations in each maki. The service is polite and attentive, and the chefs are knowledgable. What more could you ask for?! With food this delicious, it's a wonder Tsunami isn't packed every night.
Yum!. Tsunami has great food and great atmosphere - the whole package is great.
