“The atmosphere is nice, the waitstaff cute, and the music soothing -- but the angel hair pasta had absolutely no taste whatsoever.”
“So we wandered around the block from our hotel, the late Ambassador West, and there it was--the perfect late night cafe, with drinks and superb food.”
“The bacon is thick and delicious and the eggs florentine is very fresh!”
“Their sandwich selection is very solid and the portions are very good.”
“Outstanding food, exceptional service, and amazing music.”
“My meal was fresh and made to order so it took longer, and completely worth any wait, but really service was excellent.”
“It is a cool spot to go and chill out and read a book or just grab a quick lunch!”

Nothing like a good old fashioned coffee and wine bar in the heart of the gold coast. Two things I love most: vino and caffeine all housed under one tidy roof.
The most tasteless, bland meal I ever had in Chicago.. The most tasteless, bland meal I have had in Chicago. The atmosphere is nice, the waitstaff cute, and the music soothing -- but the angel hair pasta had absolutely no taste whatsoever. I can't say that it was bad, but it certainly wasn't very good.
great spot. 3rd coast is awesome. Great food, and good value. Their sandwich selection is very solid and the portions are very good. It is a cool spot to go and chill out and read a book or just grab a quick lunch!
Late night and breakfast spot. A reliable place in the heart of the gold coast! All they need is poetry for entertainment - it's a true coffee house - and wine bar. Don't come if you're in a hurry - the service is s-l-o-w. But they make wonderful breakfasts and one of the best pizzas in town - little known fact. The Burgers are great - a brie and turkey sandwich - You can get almost anything here
Live in Gold Coast and searching for a brunch spot?. 3rd Coast has great, no frills food! The bacon is thick and delicious and the eggs florentine is very fresh! If you go late morning, get ready to wait about 20 mins!
My favorite hangout--fabulous food and people. I discovered this place seven years ago when we were looking for some eats late night in the busy Division Street area with some locals. Amazingly enough, the bars do not serve food after midnight. There is one place right on Division that is open late, but it's basically a fast-food stand. So we wandered around the block from our hotel, the late Ambassador West, and there it was--the perfect late night cafe, with drinks and superb food. I've had almost everything on the menu and love it all. It's a beautiful place too, with beautiful people on occasion, and some cute wait staff of both sexes. One thing I have not tried is the pizza, but my brother says it's the best. Breakfast and weekend brunch are awesome. I LOVE THIS PLACE. I no longer stay at hotels in this area, but I still go here all the time.
Best freshly cooked meal I've had in sometime.. It's difficult to find a restaurant that offers healthy choices, and, doesn't fry everything just to make it taste like something. My meal was fresh and made to order so it took longer, and completely worth any wait, but really service was excellent. Other reviewers are so used to pre-processed food they complain when their cattle feed isn't in front of them in five minutes. Truly exceptional food an atmosphere, I will visit often :)
This place is great!!!. When I first went here, I hated the service. Then I realized that it wasn't the service that brought me there. It is the ambiance it creates that makes you want to talk, debate, and converse. Nothing like a bottle of red and a free...yeah free...cheese plate to have after a late night of working or pre-clubbing. I Love It!!!!!
positive review. I have recently moved from NYC and finally have found a place in the city that reminds me of home. The Art Opening at the cafe I just attented was delightful. Outstanding food, exceptional service, and amazing music. I have always had a great experience. Anyone wanting a cozy place should try it.
This Euro-style cafe attracts an eclectic mix of Gold Coast dwellers who linger over coffee and comfort food..
In Short
Locals eat breakfast, home-style soups, sandwiches, salads and handmade pizzas at this vintage eatery, which has art-covered walls and original leaded-glass windows from the '20s. Couples and students fill the joint most nights, digging into finger foods like hummus and pita and smoked turkey and dill Havarti sandwiches. On weekends, brunch attracts an after-church crowd that fills up on veggie hash, chilaquiles, and Brie-stuffed banana-and-walnut French toast.
