Good Service, Good Food, Good Fun!. I went here with a few of my buddies last weekend and had a great time! The service was excellent, the atmosphere was fun and the ribs were the best I've ever had. Our server, Nikki was so great! We never had to wait for a drink, she was pleasant and seemed to really enjoy her job which is unusual to find in a server. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone!

The worst restaurant on Wells Street. From the service to the food, ill never understand why this place is still in business. I have been to bars with better food, and it has been in business since 1969? The salad tasted dirty, the steak was cooked medium well when I asked for medium rare, I didn?t even get the coleslaw that the menu says I get. When I told the server that it was cooked to much he said oh I didn?t notice. When I go to a bar to get a drink I expect service. Vince the bartender looked at me six times in 5 minutes before he finished his conversation with a fellow employee and decided to come over and ask me what I wanted to drink.

Bottom line the food is below average and the service is the worst I have ever seen. I have been there a handful of times since I live in the neighborhood with the same results every time. When I asked to talk to the owner Kye (or how ever its spelt) He never came by even though I was told he was there. There are a lot of better places to spend your money.

Hole. Here is the answer to that annoying question: It's neither a sports bar nor a fancy restaurant! It is simply a hole with semi-decent bar food. It lacks atmosphere and class. Its amazing that such a great street in Chicago has no decent places to eat or drink. If you are looking for an aging crowd, ok bar food and the nastiest restrooms this side of the river then Fireplace is your spot. Overpriced and over-rated!!

Can't Find Good BBQ In Chicago. Being from Texas, and growing-up on real BBQ, I'm always excited to try BBQ places in Chicago. I've lived in Chicago for 10 years now and still haven't found a really good BBQ place that matches the ones back home. This one was good, but not great. The search continues

Not Tasty. I thought BBQ on a cold night at The Fireplace Inn would be a good idea, but I was wrong. While the lighting was wonderful and the actual fireplace kept the room warm, the food was poor. There was very little barbeque sauce on our bbq sandwich and the boneless rib sandwich was comparable to that of a McRib with the same consistency. I found the service good(unlike previous reviews), and the steak fries hearty. We ordered stuff mushrooms as an appetizer and our server brought out two plates one with cooked mushrooms and another with round seafood hushpuppies (obviously not stuffed). I'm certain there is better BBQ in chicago and I'm on a mission to find it and so should you.

Overworked, but efficient waiters. Very good bus people.. We enjoyed the fun and casual atmosphere. Musicians came to our table to play their instruments and sing. The waiter was curt in the beginning but warmed as the evening proceeded. Waiter did not offer another drink. Bus person kept our non-alcoholic drinks full. Best lobster tail I ever had, great new york steak. Salad was ok. Desserts were scrumptious. Chocolate mousse was intensely good. We would definitely go back.

Rockin Restaurant. As a boat owner in Diversey Harbor I am always looking for a restaurant to deliver food to my boat. I found a great restaurant to do that, The Fireplace. After many tasty successful deliveries I decided a visit to the restaurant was in order. I was not dissappointed. I didn't think the food could get better but it most certainly did. No delay from the kitchen to my table certainly helped I'm sure. I highly recommend stopping in for great food and drink. All in my party left at the least satisfied, most elated.

We will be back

Head to this family spot for "Flintstones"-sized ribs in an old-school environment.. In Short
Low lighting, red linen tablecloths and dark wood paneling gives this Old Town dining room a classic family-restaurant feel. With its fully retractable roof, the patio is bright and modern, boasting a bar, 12 TVs and a handful of tables. Tangy, fall-off-the-bone barbecue baby back ribs are a menu specialty, with steak, seafood and salads playing supporting roles. Another winner: barbecued chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Food is okay, service ain't. Living in the neighborhood, have been here many times but stopped going due to horrible service. Servers have lousy attitude & disappear frequently. Burgers are the best bet, side salads are bland & the ribs are over-priced but tasty & prepared well. Bartenders are on the ball if the servers arent. The outdoor area is glorious in the summer and fall--just don't count on being able to order anything after initial order.
