Editorial Review for Harry Caray's Restaurant – by Citysearch Staff
The Scene
This classy sports-fan favorite wraps up steak, Italian food and baseball into one handsome Chicago-loving package. The bright dining room buzzes with friendly, white-jacketed servers and casual diners; the convivial bar fills with easygoing corporate types at all hours of the day. Not surprisingly, the place is a veritable sports museum, crammed with photos, artwork and autographed bats and balls.
The Food
Expect hearty, classic interpretations of Italian specialties. Start with calamari served with punchy red sauce. Follow with Dutchie's salad, a delicious tribute to Harry's wife, heaped with baby greens, apples, pears, toasted walnuts and Gorgonzola. Entrees include chicken Parmesan and top-notch steaks like porterhouse, rib eye and fillet, each available Vesuvio- or peppercorn-style. For dessert, the heavenly hot fudge-brownie sundae is a winner.

Insider Tips
Where to SitCub fans clamor to sit at table 70 in the front corner (Harry's favorite), which boasts a great view of the entire room. However, keep in mind that the table is reserved for parties of 5-6 guests.

I love this restaurant. They make some of the most amazing italian dishes (outside of little Italy, of course), and the portions are enormous!! For the cost conscious, go with the pasta dishes. You can get one entree to split between 2 (or even 3) people. I don't like that the steaks don't include any sides, but I'll live! And, be sure to sit in the bar, or on the "patio." There is no need for reservations or waiting, and they serve a full menu. Plus, the servers are much more easy going than the ones in the dining room. Oh, and the Mojito Martini is delicious. Just don't drink one on an empty stomach!! You'll be buzzing all night.
Pros: location, food, service
Cons: expensive
