Great gospel brunch!. Not only does this place have a great name, a great reputation, and a great location, but the gospel brunch was up to standard. It was fairly expensive, but definitely worth the show! I went there w/ my whole family and we had a blast. Lots of energy circulating. A very different experience for us. For anyone, I'm sure.

The place is visually appealing with its local, colorful art. The acoustics are great (I'm told, the best acoustics in the city for a concert hall? not the expert though). The staff was friendly but the brunch show was so packed that we didn't get to interact w/ them much. I saw them interact with other people so I know they are there. Some of the food was somewhat generic but what do you expect with a brunch buffet. It wasn't bad though. Lines were super long but once the show got started, if you had room to wiggle out of your table, the lines were shorter. Don't worry, you'll get your food.

I do have to comment about the religious nature of the show. If you are a fervent atheist, you may not like what you hear, however, if you come in with an open mind, and take this more like a show (sorry religious people, it is labeled as a show after all), then you will be guaranteed to be entertained!

Great Music Wonderful Employees. On saturday we went to see The Hot Mix 5 at House of Blues.

Waiting in line wasn't too long of a process.

The secruirty guards did a great job of keeping things moving and they were

personable while doing so.

After going up the stairs to the Music Hall i stopped to ask a secuirty guard

where the washroom was, they were nice enough to guide me to the restrooms

through the crowd.

The show was amazing, the sound system and the way the stage is set-up made it enjoyable from any place in the venue.

Many live music venues tend to be dirty with bottles, napkins, wrapppers, cups on the ground. House of Blues was kept very clean and made it easier to stand and enjoy the show.

I will be returing soon to the House of Blues!

Thanks for the Hospitality!

HOB and Me. I have not been in another venue that appeals to so many of my sense at one time. From the emense collection of folk art, to the smell of nangchampa insense pumped thorugh the place, to what it stands for, and of course the muisc, WHO CAN FORGET THE MUSIC! This is one of my favorite venues in Chicago! I love the fact that even though the venue falls under the "House of BLUES" title, it celebrates all kinds of music and more improtantly...all people! "Unity in Diversity!!!!"

Downtown venue with lush setting, excellent acoustics and strong bookings.. The Scene
House of Blues opened its fourth restaurant-concert hall at the base of the famous "corn cob" buildings of Marina City in 1996. Host to a mix of blues, jazz, funk, rap and world musicians of varying notoriety, this spot is also a popular dining spot. HOB's upstairs music hall is decorated with Southern outsider art. Sight lines on the main floor are terrific, sound is almost as stunning, and if you don't mind standing (little seating is available), this is the place to be. There are private boxes reserved for VIPs and industry folks, but standing room in the lower balcony is open.

The Experience
Don't let the name fool you. Everyone under the sun plays here: hip-hop groups, alterna-rockers, "Behind the Music" bands cashing in and blues giants like R.L. Burnside, Taj Mahal.

A Name by any other rose.. Just because a venue has the word "Blues" in it's name doesn't make it a Blues Bar. This place is way too sanitized and offers too wide range of entertainment to be call such. Give me either gritty joint on North Halsted, B.L.U.E.S. or the "Mines".

Yawn. The restaurant was good but somewhat overpriced for our dinner. In our group of 8 we had good service and a nice time but downstairs didn't get a really good band. We'll be back, don't ever give up on a blues venue.

not fantastic. after hearing rave reviews about house of blues, i went out of my way when i visited chicago. the restaurant's decor is great and interesting. foodwise- it was boring same old cajun stuff. not being a meat-eater, i lost out and didn't have much of a choice. but the fish of the day i got in the end was extremely fresh. beware of the waiter asking "cornbread all around" towards the end because we didn't listen carefully, said yes and got charged for cornbread we didn't particularly care for. the cornbread was good though and it was quite a large portion; good starter for 5-6 people i will say. but otherwise, my experience could have been enhanced with a concert (which was sold out). make reservations in advance (2 weeks) for sunday brunch.

This place blows. In spite of the name, this venue rarely books blues acts. It is mostly rap, country, or death metal acts that play at this woefully expensive, sterile River North abomination.
