What People Are Saying About Pizano's Pizza & Pasta

In Short – The portly chef on the sign, and Italian flag-striped awning announce the goods within. A dimly lit room, long wooden bar and signed celebrity photos adorning practically every square inch add exponentially to the old-world vibe. Enthusiastic diners gobble pastry-crust pies--both deep and thin--with a variety of expected toppings. Favorite combinations include Rudy's Special with sausage, mushroom, onion and peppers. Pasta lovers might opt for Brant's Favorite: mostaccioli with garlic, butter, sausage, parsley and cheese.
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- Hurried diners can call ahead and pre-order their pies to dine in. It will be ready and piping hot upon arrival.
- What to Drink:
- Pizano's prides itself on an Italian-heavy wine list perfect for a pizza restaurant.
- Know Before You Go:
- Try the butter crust for an extra buck. A pre-bake butter treatment ensures the crispest of crusts.

Good Food
by J Janky
We ordered the pizza prior to arrival. When we arrived a table was ready. Drinks were ordered and delivered to the table quickly. The place has a nice neighborhood feel. Really comfortable. The pizza was hot and tasty. We have been here a couple of times. Never disappointed.
- Pros: Tasty Pizza, nice neighborhood place
- Cons: none
Stay away

Aweful. Had problems with takeout orders twice. One delivered pizza arrived as if they had carried the box like a book. A $5 side sallad wasn't worth 99 cents. The management is terrible. They hire people who simply have no idea how to talk to a customer. Avoid at all costs. Plenty of good pizza places in Chicago.I think this place stays in business by preying on tourists.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Bad pizza. Bad delivery. Poor value. Bad manners. A rip off.
Best Pizza -Just Amazing
by ahauke
Their deep dish pizza is amazing. I don't know what the big deal is about Giordano's and Lou Malnati's and Gino's East. I think all of these places are mediocre. Pizano's is outstanding. The crust is just right and not too bready and bit crunchy and the bottom of the pizza is a bit buttery but saturated in the pizza flavor. I dream about that pizza. The breadsticks are awesome as well.
- Pros: Pizza is outstanding. Best of Chicago.
BEST pizza in Chicago!

Absolutely the best deep dish pizza in Chicago, hands down. Will never go anywhere else for pizza because nothing can compare!
Worst pizza experience ever!
by msenczi
When I looked up this restaurant, I loved the reviews! Great food, great atmosphere, fast service. The only thing I can agree on is that it had a fun, cozy atmosphere--loved the checkerboad table cloths. When we got there for a late dinner, we found out that there was a forty minute wait! However, when I had inquired about reservations, I was told you don't need them. We couldn't stay since we had a show to get to. After the show we came back and were given a table right away--don't get excited though, it was 12 am. Our waitress took our order and repeated it back to us: thin crust pizza--half with black olives, half with articoke hearts, sausage, and mushrooms. After 30 minutes of waiting, we asked our waitress what was going on. She said 10 more minutes!! How long does it take to cook a thin crust pizza?! On the menu there was a warning about the deep dish pizza which had a cook time of 30 minutes, but nothing was noted about the thin crust pizza. The waitress assured us it was worth it, so we continued to wait. When it finally came out, we saw that it had the wrong toppings on it. No sausage, and instead of articoke hearts there were anchovies!! We told her that this is not what we ordered, and she had the nerve to ask what WE were going to do about it. Naturally we left without eating or paying for the drinks. Never again will we go there or recommend it to anyone!!! Very disappointing!
- Pros: Ambience...and that's it
- Cons: long wait time for pizza, wrong pizza when it came, long wait times for tables, poor service
