Editorial Review for Gold Coast Guest House – by Gayot.com
The Scene
Located in an 1800s brick row house a few minutes from Michigan Avenue, this lodging has a cozy, relaxed atmosphere, something big hotels usually cannot offer. For travelers seeking an unhurried setting in the midst of the big city, this is an excellent option. Continental breakfast, including fresh fruit and yogurt, is included with your stay.
The Details
This guesthouse is intimate, with just four rooms, all with private baths. The accommodations are decked out with down quilts and VCRs. There are also individually controlled air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Three of the bedrooms have deep soaking tubs. When sitting in the shady garden isn't practical, guests can view it from the 18-foot-tall window by the dining and living rooms. Assigned parking spaces are located in the garage behind the B&B for an additional fee. The health club down the street is available to guests, also for a fee.

my grandma was coming into town last week for the holidays and thought i would treat her to a stay at the gold b&b. she really enjoyed it. my condo is just not big enough for having my grandma in it too. she particularly enjoyed the mattress.

As soon as I walked in the Gold Coast Guest House, I knew that we would have a lovely stay. Sally greeted us at the door with a big smile and a contagious enthusiam for Chicago. She graciously organized tours of the river and the historic Charnley House close by. We stayed in two rooms tastefully decorated with attention to every detail. No expense has been spared with nice linens, toiletries and a library of guidebooks and videos. Guests have convenient access to drinks and snacks at all times. Sally is a wealth of knowledge and recommended an excellent Mexican restaurant. The sitting area is open to a beautiful ivy covered walled garden. A real retreat for the tired tourist at the end of the day! We had a wonderful stay mostly due to our lovely host. I would recommend this B&B to anyone thinking of a trip to Chicago.
Pros: tastefully decorated, informative host, garden retreat
