Worst Management - Simon Meredith. Worst Management - Simon Meredith. I went to visit this club since I just moved into the area. I met with a guy named Eric. At first Eric seemed nice and courteous until he opened his mouth and started saying big lies. "Oh yes, Obama comes here all the time. And Oprah.. This is her favorite place." Well, it's 2012, and we all know neither Obama not Oprah live in Chicago.... What kind of Stupid people work and workout here. GOOD BYE EBC. NEVER. A Bunch of Liars at EBC. I heard so many bad things about this place and I still went there to give them the benefit of the doubt. What a waste of my time. What a shame!!!

Dirty, Gloomy and not up to standards. I was a member at the East Bank Club for some time. I recently canceled my membership and so did many of my friends. This place is nothing like it used to be. It's dirty, old equipment, No sun light, Locker rooms are filthy and old and the food at the restaurants is a shame. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Plus, they charge you a hefty sign up fee, a very high monthly fee from hundreds and up. If you choose to go here, plan to spend thousands of dollars and up to go to a filthy place that is not up to standards. EBC... this is not 1970 anymore. STAY FAR FAR AWAY.

Best membership in the city. Not only is the staff excellent and helpful. This place offers everything from swimming, tennis, classes to spa and dining. Come in here during the winter and never have to leave all day. I would never go anywhere else, this place is top notch!

To all the haters below, you must be generally unhappy with life, your lies don't stand up to this great club. Anyone who comes in or is a member can see that!

Gloomy Gloomy Gloomy. Worst Place to Workout.... This place is a warehouse... not a health club.... $180 a month... No way... Not for a place like this.... This is a total Rip-off. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Restaurants great - top management snobs. I have been a member for years. Convenient to my office. Woman's locker room is clean. Both the restaurant and the grill are top shelf. I do agree with some of the reviewers who say that the top management is a snob. Walks around with a superior unapproachable attitude.

Seem to treat their employees fairly with low turnover.

Think most classes are great although wish they would rotate the times so you could try other classes that are always scheduled at the same time. Like everywhere there are a few bad apples. Shame one is at the top.

Very Dirty. Not worth the $175 per month. I would rather burn my money than waste it in this dirty establishment. I agree with one of the comments. The Gatorade will cost you $5 and smoothie will cost you between $8 and up. you add anything will cost you...

People who work there are very unfriendly. The managers are hypocrites. The members are cocky and snub and think they belong to the higher society. I have news for you. EBC is a dirty gyn with a higher price tag.

EBC is outstanding. EBC is the most amazing place in Chicago. My parents and I are members and have been since the beginning. The customer service, the variety of equipment, along with the endless amenities and extreme cleanliness, EBC is more than just a health club. You can literally spend your entire day there and get your dry cleaning done, get a manicure, massage, car washed, and a great lunch or dinner.

Anybody who claims EBC is this "unclean" and awful place clearly has not spent any time there. And for the review claiming there is rodents?! That is absolutely untrue, and ignorant for such false allegations. EBC is inspected all the time and if that was true, it would have been shut down many years ago. Sorry, but it shows by the 11,000 members who belong there and growing. And most unless they moved ,have been members from the time it opened.
