A nice pair of khakis is all it takes to feel at home with this classic crew.. The Scene
Best known for its catalogue, this bastion of preppie couture boasts a slew of outposts across the country. Quality fabrics and comfortable cuts make the store a favorite among the college/ young professional set, who sport J. Crew's signature khakis, T-shirts, sweaters and dressier professional wear. The stores' layout mirrors the catalogue's look: clean, organized and well stocked.

The Goods
T-shirts come in soft, light cotton that never pills and sweaters look just as good three winters after you buy them. The great thing about J. Crew's classic styles is that little changes from season to season except the colors being offered. The line does introduce new, trendy-but-still-conservative pieces every season, but it's the staples that make up the core of the J. Crew look. Shoes and accessories are also available.

Pretty standard. J Crew's a classic, but I don't find much there I'd like. The clothes are very well made - I had a J Crew sweatshirt for literally six or seven years before it was retired, but they're a little on the standard side for me, personally.

It's a good basics store, maybe.
