Knife-wielding chefs put on a show at this communal Japanese grill.. In Short
Benihana started out as a tiny four-table restaurant in New York City's theater district before becoming an international chain. Diners sit around large tables where chefs ostentatiously chop, slice, stir-fry and grill. Entree options are simple--shrimp, chicken, steak and scallops--and preparation is uniform. Every entree comes with a similar stock of sides: rice, onion soup, shrimp appetizer, iceberg lettuce drizzled with dressing, sauteed vegetables and green tea.

Great food, great fun!. I took my fiance, our friend, and my sister to Benihana recently to celebrate Christmas and my sister's Christmas birthday. I've been to other hibachi restaurants but not specifically Benihana's. The drinks were excellent, the food was delicious and the staff was attentive and friendly. The dinner show was not as great as other Japanese hibachi restaurants I've been to, but you can hardly complain about that, since everything else was so great. We ate drank and socialized with each other and the other couple at the table who were also celebrating a Christmas birthday, and had a great time. I will be back as soon as I can afford it!

Rude Behavior from Host. I made reservations several weeks ago for 6 people to celebrate Mother's Day. I called back May 8th at 7:30 pm to confirm reservations an add an extra person. The host who answered the phone was plain nasty and rude with absolutely no reason to behave this way. I was so taken aback (I have never had this kind of experience before) that I had to hang up because he was getting nastier by the minute. I made reservations elsewhere afraid that if the host tretaed me this way I could not take a chance and bring my family to an unfriendly environment or to a place in which they could be embarrased.

Great Time!!. I was dying to go to any type of Japenese steakhouse because everyone talks about how fun they are and all my exceptions were fulfilled. I had a great time!! The chef we had was fun adn the food was tasty.
