Inspired by New York's neoclassical Metropolitan Club, this is the largest Polo store in the world. The designer's rugged, outdoorsy clothing and furniture collections are set among rich mahogany paneling, fireplaces and plush chairs. Late 19th- and early 20th-century oil paintings bedeck the walls, and stunning antiques make a museum out of the expansive store. Extending the Ralph Lauren aesthetic to food, adjacent RL restaurant refuels weary shoppers with classic American cuisine.

The Goods
A stately, high-society ambience pervades the store, reflected in casual, conservative business clothes and special-occasion attire. The feel is echoed in lush accents for the home--bedding, bathroom accessories and predominantly masculine furnishings. The patriotic, if predictable, selection of high-quality sweaters, outerwear, suits, shirts, pants and jeans don't draw attention but rather offer classy understatement. Expect dark woody, mix-and-match patterns, brightened by occasional feminine floral.
