In Short – Straight from the funky street styles of Southern Philly, this bohemian-chic shopping mecca has evolved to offer everything from trendy men and womens clothing to vintage-y home accessories. Brands like Lux, BDG, and Free People encompass the stores' youthful, ironically humorous, and comfortable designs. While apparel is the main draw, the urban emporium also sells kitschy, retro, and downright odd knick knacks and accessories for the living room, bedroom, and kitchen as well. Each section is packed with creative arrangements to peruse while listening to a soundtrack of the…

Urban Outfitters: Whats good and whats just okay

by Buruku at Citysearch

As a company, Urban Outfitters is a mixed bag. I greatly appreciate UB for selling items that really can't be found anywhere else; some of their quirky apartment decor and nic-nacs. I rarely leave the store without buying the Hello Kitty re-ments, which I can't find anywhere else but ebay.

A lot of the clothes sold at UB are made to look vintage, like something pulled out of Grandma's closet or found at a second-hand store. The difference is these garments are marked at around $60+ bucks, instead of the dirt cheap price you'd be paying somewhere else. While browsing racks I've never come across anything remarkable in the quality or material, the prices at UB are just really marked up, and you are undoubtedly paying for the brand. Learn to become friends with the sale racks in this store; you won't find "a steal" but you will be able to add some unique pieces to your wardrobe at a reasonable price.

The Urban Outfitters on Rush is in a great shopping location; steps away from other great retailers including the ones that line Michigan Ave. Because of this and the great customer service I've received at this location, I am bumping the rating to 4 stars.

I feel like the shoe section is one of UB strong points. I really just love all the styles, and the materials used are of good quality. I love going through their shoe sales! I'd much rather pay around $70 for a pair of nice leather booties than $35 for one of their yarn hats or necklaces.
