Editorial Review for Pizzeria Uno – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
The pies take 45-60 minutes to bake at this low-ceilinged, dark pizza joint, so a host takes orders from customers while they stand in line. It's all deep dish--no thin-crust pizza here--and broccoli is about the most exotic topping you'll find. The pizza arrives dripping with cheese and not too much sauce, and a flaky, crunchy, almost pie-like crust. The menu also features steaks, salads, burgers and pastas.

Insider Tips
Save TimeFor a shorter wait, head across the street to Pizzeria Due, which was opened to handle the overflow from Uno.
The ExtrasUno's small street-side patio provides a perfect opportunity to people-watch and enjoy a beer (more than 50 offered) or a mixed drink, like the Captain Colada--a tall, blended libation of spiced rum and pina colada.
Save MoneyOn weekdays at lunch, get an individual pizza plus soup or salad for $6.
ParkingThe restaurant offers discounted parking at the garage across the street--$10 for three hours.

Have not had Uno's since I was a kid and decided to go after a day down at Navy Pier. Arrived at 5:15 with our 2 kids and was told it would be a 45-90 minute wait, but that they put your order in so that it is 80% cooked when you get to your table. We finally sat down a few minutes before 7 (almost 2 hour wait) and we did not get our pizza until 7:30. Our waiter was very rude with a huge attitude problem and couldn't have cared less that the pizza was taking so long--in fact he didn't even notice we had been waiting so long until I pointed it out to him. And even then, he acted like I was making up the whole time-frame thing. When we finally got it, we were really disappointed. It tasted like it had been sitting for 15 minutes on a counter or something. The only redeeming thing about our evening was when the manager came over to ask how everything was and we told her about what we had experienced. She was very apologetic and ended up taking 1/2 $ off our pizza which is not what we were looking for, as we told her. All in all, the service was TERRIBLE, the pizza mediocre and I am sure we will never go back again.

We went to Pizzeria Uno for lunch and avoided the long wait, at 3PM or so there was only a 15-30 minute wait for 2, which was wonderful because I expected to wait much longer from the reviews. Also, they take your pizza order at the time of reservation, so even if you have to wait 45 minutes for a table, your pizza will be ready when you sit down, or at least be in preparation. The restaurant was small, but I wouldn't consider it cramped. My girlfriend and I ordered a small Spinocolli pizza(Spinach and Broccoli specialty) and a salad bowl to share. Both were very delicious. I personally did not think the spinocolli tasted so great, but my girlfriend thought that it was amazing. The pizza itself was wonderful and I liked the crust a lot, it was mainly the broccoli that I didn't find so great on the pizza. Other than that, great restaurant. My girlfriend and I were not able to finish a small pizza,
Pros: Great Pizza
