Fantastic french vietnamese fusion. If you are lucky enough to get Saada as your waitperson you will be quite lucky eating here. With her help in selecting drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts we had a memorable meal. We sat upstairs in the enclosed terrace to get away from the smokers in the upstairs lounge. The food was excellent, the evening a complete success.

Excellent service, great food, extremely professional staff.Excellent.. Excellent. Words cannot begin to describe my experience at this restaurant. l am a very difficult customer to please and l must say l haven't felt like a princess since i arrived in chicago 2yrs ago until l dined at Le colonial with a friend of mine, the service was impeccable, both waiters were extremely attentive, polite, they served our food on time; and talking about the food,l had the red snapper and steamed rice as my main course,it was soooo good. At the end of dinner,we had a chat with the manager and l could see why he had an excellent staff,he was humble, charming, kind and polite. lf you haven't been to this restaturant, i think you would be missing out on the best of chicagos finest. Le colonial is far superior both in service as well as their menu than most restaurants in the gold coast area.l am definitely going back to celebrate my wedding anniversary this year.

Wonderl Food. Wonderful Experience. Do so love this restaurant. The food is always wonderful. Very flavorful with exciting flavors with every bite. The food and service are consistently of very high quality. The chicken filled ravioli are the best ever. Shrimp salad is awesome, though a bit spicey. The fish is always fresh and yummy. Roasted chicken melts in your mouth. Have never been disappointed after being there many times. Anxious to return.

Well prepared trendy asian. I joined a couple friends at Le Colonial for lunch. The service was pretty good, though a little slow at the end -- we waited around to order dessert but then ran out of time because they forgot to bring us menus. I asked for more sauce for a certain dish though and they brought it out happily and quickly, so I suspect that the menu issue was an uncommon oversight. The food is a contemporary take on traditional Vietnamese food. The flavors and quality of the ingredients were wonderful though they did mess up some of the basics like the noodles in the bun (totally forgivable though because the pork on top was fantastic!) The signature cocktails are light and refreshing. The ambiance is trendy and great for people watching. This is the perfect place to grab a healthy and tasty lunch with friends in between some shopping.

Watch out for Dishonest Bartender and Management. After a nice dinner, we went upstairs to the bar. I ordered a glass of wine ($10) and gave the bartender a $20 bill (I only had $20s since I had gone to a Cash Station before dinner). Bartender never came back, I chased her down 15 min later and was told I was owed no change since I only gave her a $10. I asked to speak to a manager. Manager told me nothing he could or would do, said bartenders are bonded and they don't make mistakes on bills. Manager even refused to check the register for being $10 over at night end. I said you must be kidding, and the manager told me to leave if I didn't like it. I protested and was told leave immediately or security will remove me. This is how management deals with problems? Watch out.

Greedy Owner. I was at Le Colonial May 26th and was disappointed. First, I must say that the food was very good. The seating was an issue. I took the editorial reviews recommendation to be seated upstairs. What a mistake. They pack you in like sardines in a can. The interior tables have no business being there. There is constant waitstaff and customers passing your table. Nothing like taking a bite of food with a waiters backside in your face. This is just greed on the part of the owner. If you are looking for a quiet and romantic restaurant, go elsewhere.

BEST SCALLOPS!!. We took all of the waitress's suggestions and were very impressed. The scallops and monkfish were truly amazing. Although it's situated near the loud and busy Rush St area, it provides a nice intimate atmosphere inside. The service and food were flawless.

One of the best meals I have ever had!. The ambience was romantic and beautiful......I was unsure on what to order from the menu (the descriptions weren't that detailed) so I asked our waiter what he recommended between the sea bass and red snapper. When my whole red snapper arrived, I was in heaven....it was savory and sweet, with a little crunch on the outside of it.....it was truly satisfied.

Overpriced food. We had reservations for two, but had to wait for an additional 15-20min. At least they offered us some boh biah. I had a a chicken dish with mango and nuts while my boyfriend had an appetizer , some noodle dish. They were both good, but certainly nothing spectacular. We also ordered a lychee cocktail which had way too much alcohol. I couldn't even taste the lychee.

Although the ambience is nice (a bit too dark for my taste), this place is way over rated and one can get better and less expensive food elsewhere. How I miss getting cheap good food in Asia!

Wonderfull dining experience!. We loved everthing about this resturant! The service was professional, helpful and efficient. The menu was simply wonderful with many unique dishes to choose from. Dishes are perfect for sharing, although one might not want to share because everything is just delicious. The dining room is beautiful, making you feel like you are in an exotic oriental plantation house. This is a must in Chicago!!
