“The atmosphere there is very nice and the steak was great!”
“We had a wonderful dinner - the steaks cooked to perfection - a chocolate mousse dessert that is bigger than baseball mit!”
“Food is fabulous, servers and very knowledgeable on all foods and wines.”
“The steaks are done perfectly, at just the right temp for the natives, servings are huge and the martinis wash everything down nicely.”
“simple menu, and great steaks.”
“Gibson's is without a doubt the best place in Chicago to see the "pretty people", and get a great Steak.”
“However, for spending well over $300 for dinner, my guests were extremely disappointed and probably will never want to return again.”
“Food is fabulous, servers and very knowledgeable on all foods and wines.”
“for the price, I'd expect the best meat I've ever had, but no, it wasen't”
“Gibson's has some of the best service that I have seen in a long time and the food is always fresh and well prepared.”
Sure, you'll find excellent steaks and strong martinis, but I also like the seafood dishes and the towering desserts.

An oldie but a goodie. Forget the trendy, just-opened spots every once in a while and indulge in a 12-oz. filet, a double decker martini and a taste of old school Chicago.
Ive been here many times. Yesterday the steak was perfect as usual. I will say though that they are on the expensive side but if you want great dining in Chicago that's the price you must pay. Nothing out of the ordinary. The waiter was great. Very attentive as usual. Id recommend this to anyone who has it in there budget
Great atmosphere. I had the the steak medium-rare, a shrimp appetizer, and the chocolate ice cream for desert. I loved it all very much. The atmosphere on Tuesday night was mostly executives on business.
Good as always! Top notch service and steaks!.
Would get five stars except they're a little slow with quoted reservation times. On a Saturday night I had a 7:30pm reservation, did not get seated until 8:15pm. Of course we just had drinks from the bar so it was not a problem.
Great steaks and our waiter, Alejandro, was fabulous. Everything's great here. Will return soon!
Great Restaurant. We ate at the Gibson's in Oakbrook but overall great restaurant. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. I ordered the New York Sirloin, medium rare and my wife ordered the Yellowfin Tuna. For sides we ordered double baked potatoes, a vegetable combo and sauteed spinach. For desert we shared the Macadamia Turtle Pie. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection and the drinks were strong. We will definitely be back again.
Dragged there. We have a friend who likes going there and we've joined him. It's overrated. The steak was bland and dry, poorly prepared. The deserts we’ve eaten there have never been very good. The roasted chicken on the bar menu is decent. There's much better restaurants in the area at that level. The outside dining is pretty fun, the interior needs updating. We wouldn't go back on our own.
Amazing steaks. This place is the best for steaks and service. The WR cut and prime rib are amazing
Not impressed.
I was not at all impressed with my meal here and after hearing such good things and with the high prices, I expected much more.
To start the meal, our water was overflowing and splashed all over the table when the waitress brought it to us, and there was not even a slice of lemon or anything.
The bread was okay, we were given three different kinds and the raisin bread as well as the multigrain sourdough were good - probably the highlight of the meal, which is kinda sad when you're paying $30+ for the entrees.
The house salads that came with our entrees were absolutely pathetic. Worse quality than fast food restaurants. Wilted and brown romaine lettuce with a few strings of carrots and purple lettuce, one cherry tomato, and one slice of cucumber. Honestly, if you aren't going to at least have mixed greens or something more interesting, don't even offer a salad. It just ruins my impression of the restaurant as "fine dining."
I had a petitie filet mignon, which was really tiny, and came with a huge spear of broccoli as well as really gunky hollandaise sauce. I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare but it was closer to medium/medium well. Not a huge problem, but still, not what I expect from a steakhouse of this caliber.
My friend had the soft shell crabs sauteed with vegetables and sesame soy sauce. The crabs were nice and tender, but there was way too much sauce and she was really thirsty even hours after our meal.
Smith & Wollensky is a better steakhouse, especially if you're ready to spend this kind of money. I was completely unsatisfied with my meal here.
Steakhouse with an attitude.
This is the happening steakhouse plus more. Lots of people at the bar with piano player. Real energetic. Grey Gose Martini was weak at best (watered down), but the food was amazing. Enjoyed the Prime aged Porterhouse w/peppercorn and Prime bone-in rib-eye, both were done to perfection. Other dishes we tried include twice baked potatoe w/sour cream, chives and chedder, as well wedge w/chopped tomato and onions.
The restaurant itself is packed on a Saturday night. Tables are tight but comfortable. Booths occupied by downtown regulars. The wait staff is polite and orchestrated by an invisible management. Server was Mario, he made us feel rushed and sneared at our food choices and was almost comical. He ignored several requests and vanished.
It's Classic for a Reason.
The only thing better than the steaks here (never had a bad one - always cooked to perfection, in my opinion) is being able to enjoy one on the sidewalk on a balmy evening, watching the colorful Rush Street crowd walk by.
This place gets slammed. I'd recommend arriving early. Otherwise, expect to wait. The bartenders are great and can actually make a proper drink (unlike some of the models that some places use).
If you're feeling casual and not in the mood for a proper steak, but still feel like eating something that had parents. Try the filet sliders. They're insanely good. Also, the crabmeat avocado is great.
good steak. I tried Gibsons out on valentines evening , just this past one.. We both thought it was great . It had a good vibe, lots of people, a guy playing the piano in the lounge ,it felt like it was the place to be. I made reservations almost 2 weeks ahead fyi . The milet mignon was very good. Definetley on of the best steaks ive had. every thing else was pretty basic. The waiter was a bit harsh. The cheese potatto is huge. but pretty plain tasting.. But i would deffinetly say its worth checking out.. Its in a fun area of Chicago, lots of stuff going around . lots of good steak houses in Mag mile probably should just check them all out...We both give it a B
