Sure, you'll find excellent steaks and strong martinis, but I also like the seafood dishes and the towering desserts.

An oldie but a goodie. Forget the trendy, just-opened spots every once in a while and indulge in a 12-oz. filet, a double decker martini and a taste of old school Chicago.
Ribeyes. good food with great atmosphere. have never had a bad meal here. even if you just have a drink at the bar, you'll enjoy
You go for the atmosphere, not the food!.
Made the trek to Gibson's. This is a hard one to review. First off, it's a cool place where you will definitely see any celebs in town for whatever the reason. The place is always brimming with people and does have a good bar and a fun vibe.
Here is the problem. The food is overrated and the service and the attitude goes a long way in me giving this a below average rating. I gues because there is so many people walking in the door all the time that Gibson's doesn't have to go out of their way to make you happy. I just didn't get the feeling that the place really cared if I was there, enjoying myself, or not.
Foodwise, yes it's good. But its not great. Its just the attitude that turns me off. I actually had better luck at the Gibson's in Rosemont. Better service, more friendly staff, and i thought the food was better.
Go to Gibson's if you want the "see and be seen" arena. If you want a good steak, there are better places in Chicago without the attitude.
Rome to Chicago for a recommended Steak from American Bob Poulsom, Shame the food wasnt up to his recommendation.. Flew from the Beverley Hills Hotel in Rome on the advise of American BOB Poulsom, unfortunately was a wasted journey as food was not as expected and service was poor. Sorry BOB but wasted $1200 on a flight to taste your recommended food. The steak was done the way they wanted it not the way I wanted which was a big dissapointment. Celebs present but hey, I was there to eat good food. Shame I looked forward to it after the big run up giving by Bob In Rome. No hard feelings Bob and your Girlfriend is lovely Bob.
A GIANT DISAPPOINTMENT!. After travelling to Chicago for over 25 years, I had the opportunity to take several guests to the "famous" Gibsons last Friday evening. We had reservations for 8 p.m. for 6 people, then during the day 2 more people joined our party. I called ahead to advise Gibsons, and the hostess said to come in and they would have no problem accomodating us. We arrived at 7:45, and it wasn't until 9 p.m that we were seated and nothing was said to apologize. They sat us in the corner where it was so noisy we couldn't even have conversation with each other. Then, 2 out of 8 people got their food right away, and the rest waited at least 20 minutes more. The manager eventually did come to us and apologized and gave us free desert. However, for spending well over $300 for dinner, my guests were extremely disappointed and probably will never want to return again. It was a total disappointment for all.
Avoid Completely - Rude Service. I went here with my girlfriend several weeks back. The staff was snobby and the food was like any other steakhouse. I would rather go to Ruth Chris's or Chicago Chophouse for steak and ambiance than Gibson's. This place is overrated.
Best steak in the city! Fun atmosphere.. Gibson's is one of my favorite steakhouses in the city. The food is so good. I highly recommend the filet as well as the mashed potatoes. The desserts are out of this world - try the Muddy Bottom, which has oreo crust, ice cream and macadamia nuts. Definitely a fun place for dinner as well, with great people watching.
Fantastic Service! Great Food! Pretty People!. WIth those three things - how can you go wrong? Our waiter, Richard, was incredible - try to get him. He's very helpful, devilishly funny and will take care of your every need. The food is amazing. The steaks are done perfectly, at just the right temp for the natives, servings are huge and the martinis wash everything down nicely. It is true that they're a bit more expensive than the average restaurant - but who wants average?
Good food, too crowded. Gibsons is obiously a Chicago landmark, and for that, it stands to reason that there is a lot of interest in the restaurant. It's almost impossible to get a reservation, but if you do, the food is great. My only complaint is that we couldn't get reservations for months. Aside from that, the food is great, but I think there are other comparable places, too, without the 9:30 PM dinner.
GREAT BAR. You will always have a great time at this restaurant. The bar is always lively with wonderful bartenders. The steaks and deserts are fantastic.
Fantastic Steak and great atmosphere. Just went to Gibsons last week for the first time and I definitely am going to go back. The atmosphere there is very nice and the steak was great! The service we received was also top notch as the servers went out of their way to make sure our dining experience was perfect.
