Editorial Review for Szechwan Restaurant – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
This dimly lit undergound restaurant is comfortable and classy, with white table linen and uniformed servers. The exhaustive menu covers Szechuan, Mandarin and Hunan cuisines with several Shanghainese and Cantonese dishes. Appetizers are a highlight: Pot stickers are house-made and meaty, while steamed shrimp dumplings are delicate. Garlic Two Delights offers plump scallops and shrimp in a spicy brown sauce. Szechuan string beans are wok-fried to a crunch with bits of minced pork and dried shrimp.

THE best Chinese food. Been eating here for years and have always left stuffed but extremely satisfied. Best to go with a group so that you can order a lot and taste everything. For starters, my fav's are Fried Shrimp Toast, Taiwan Chicken Rolls, Canton BBQ Spareribs, and Jelly Fish Salad. My hubby can't get enough of the Vegetarian Duck and Drunken Chicken. For the main dishes, my friends and I really love the Lobster Cantonese, Sauteed Watercress, Moo Shu Pork, Szechwan Eggplant, and Walnut Shrimp. For special occasions, their Peking Duck is superb. Usually, we never have enough room for dessert but I'll place an order of the House Special Fried Noodle to go. The bar is well stocked as well. Having a Chimay beer with a spicy dish really hits the spot. Bottom line: Szechwan Restaurant serves a lot of dishes that you can't find elsewhere. Even if you could find a place that serves that particular dish, Szechwan always does it better.

Pros: Great variety, great quality, friendly & helpful staff

I was delighted to find chicken feet on the menu, I took it as a sign that this place is more authentic that most Chinese restaurant in the USA. The garlic chicken was delicious! I was not crazy about the bean curd wrapped meat rolls, but it is probably just my personal preference. The service was not friendly, but again, this may be just a cultural difference. I will gladly go back to try more items on the menu.
