The Scene – On the second and third floors above stylish Oak Street boutiques, this salon could easily be missed. Despite Gold Coast digs and big-name fans, Face & Facial isn't nearly as ornate or plush as other high-profile spas in town: This unpretentious atmosphere translates into friendly, sincere service by experienced professionals. – – The Services – Hollywood stars favor this spa when in Chicago, and celebrity photographer Victor Skrebneski sends all his models to Face & Facial owner Mila Bravi before his shoots. It's no wonder that Bravi has won several beauty…

Editor's Tips

Save Money:
At little more than a dollar a minute ($65 women, $69 men), the hour massage here is one of the best spa deals in Chicago.
The Extras:
Unlike many spas, this one allows teen clients, and even has an introductory package for them, including a facial and brow-shaping. Great gift idea for little sis, cousin or niece.
Brands:
Face & Facial offers their own exclusive line of skin care products called Milbra. To maintain that after-treatment feeling, pick some up after you're appointment.

Worst Spa Experience...NO PUBLISHED PRICE LIST

by SA11

DO NOT GO TO THIS SPA. You will end up paying for services not rendered. Not to mention there is no description of services or a published price list.

I do not need fancy music or furniture to be impressed by a spa. I do not need a fancy store front either, what I need is a fair value and this spa failed at delivering that.

My husband sent me to this spa to get a facial and any additional service I requested for my birthday. Awesome gift, right? Wrong. With his credit card number on file, the "add-ons" kept coming. A $30 nail polish change, a $65 10 minute foot massage with baby oil, a $32 eye brow wax to "clean up the shape."

First the facial was fantastic. However, the pressure I felt from the minute I walked through the door was unsettling. My husband had mentioned that he thought I might want a body scrub. However, when I said I did not feel comfortable because I was pregnant...Milla was angry. She told me she had 30 years of experience and had never heard of such a thing. This is when when the experience went down the toilet. She left the room, wrote up my bill and I left the spa feeling completely taken advantage of. I gave a tip based on the facial that I requested which was scoffed at my Milla. When I called later to inquire further about the breakdown of the charges, I was told I was cheap.

Milla even walked in on me using the restroom and told me it was no big deal she didn't mind!!! Umm....

The entire experience has been unsettling. I still feel uncomfortable about it.

Best facial in Chicago!

by kell121

The salon is definitely low-key and maybe not as "sleek" as other salons in the area, but honestly the facials and the service is so good, that it doesn't matter. The staff is wonderful and treats everyone like a good friend. I got the feeling that every facial is pretty custom; I had come in for the moisturizing facial, but my temperamental skin was sort of oily in spots that day, so we wound up doing a combination of treatments. Even two weeks after the facial, my skin looks great and feels amazingly clean.

  • Pros: Expert facials, great service

Great facial, pushy service, high product prices

by elaamor

The facial I got was superb -- really took the redness and inflammation out of my problem skin. It was truly one of the best ones I have had. I also had my eyebrows waxed with great results. I even got some compliments on my brow shape afterwards.

On the downside, Mila was very pushy with her product line. I bought a product (not from Mila Bravi's personal line), and I am very pleased with the quality. However, the price was way too high -- I later found out that the same product as the one I bought for $98 retails for $54 on many online sites. The markup was nearly 100%!

I don't plan to go back regularly because of the poor customer service.

  • Pros: brow shaping, facial, location
  • Cons: parking, ambiance

Very good experience

by skriker77

I got a facial with Mila, a pedicure and manicure. The pedi was complimentary for 1st time customers. The manicure was just okay, because she did it during part of the facial. But the facial was fantastic. My face looked and felt just wonderful! I bought the scrub and mask to use at home because I liked them so much.

  • Pros: Excellent facial, clear skin, free pedicure!
  • Cons: Pricey, but worth it.

Bad Experience

by rcruz

As you walk in this spa, you hear a radio station instead of soothing spa music. I had other services, but the worst by far was the massage. The masseuse used baby oil instead of massage oil, didnt understand what I meant when I asked her to work out the knots, pressed her elbow into my kidneys (twice), let a cellphone in the room ring 3 times, and ignored the cd player which was skipping. As icing on the cake, when I told the cashier that it was a terrible massage, she didnt offer an apology or discount. Instead, she overcharged me!

  • Cons: untrained, unprofessional, overcharge for svcs
