What People Are Saying About Jackson Park

The Experience – Tracing its history to 1899, Jackson Park Golf Course is an 18-hole regulation facility. Two lakes can swallow up errant shots on at least four holes. Look for generally short yardage. This is Chicago Park District's premiere 18-hole facility. – – Rating (men): 65.9 – Slope (men): 107 – Rating (women): 69.8 – Slope (women): 114

  1. Play is very slow on the weekends -- Expect a 5-6 hour game during peak times.
  2. like the feeling of being out on the long, wide fairways, like a reminder of the former grandeur of the South Side before it bad.

I like it

by zoog

Most of the holes are fairly straightforward and there are not a lot of hazards. Most difficult hole is 559-yard monster at #14 which is hard just because of the length. Tee shot on #8 & the second shot on #11 are over water. I like the feeling of being out on the long, wide fairways, like a reminder of the former grandeur of the South Side before it bad. Course maintenance is so-so, not really good but not too scruffy either. Never had a problem getting on the course and the pace of play is good. Great value for $18

  • Pros: great value for the $, pretty good variety, easy to get tee times
  • Cons: rude staff, sketchy location, have to cross streets

Reasonable

The course could be really good with just a littl more upkeep. Summer heat dries out the fairways so play in the srping and fall tend to be better.

  • Pros: inexpensive
  • Cons: course condition

Mediocre course for a good price

by jkwehn

This course pretty much sucks, but it's cheap. It's long fairways are straight-forward... not very challenging, and moderately maintained. Play is very slow on the weekends -- Expect a 5-6 hour game during peak times. Go during a weekday and it's worth it.

  • Pros: Inexpensive
  • Cons: Slow play, Poor staff, course maintainence
