“Sound was good, facilities were clean and comfortable.”
The United Center is a world class sports and concert center, but also has a bit of unique history: "The Dilemma" starring Vince Vaughn was filmed at this movie location utilizing over 1,000 extras to fill the seats of the center.
Bulls game. I went to a Bulls game here and these two idiots were yelling disgusting profanities during the whole game. I reported it to security who did nothing.
Chicago's home for the NBA and NHL--and six Bulls championship banners, by the way..
Home Turf
The Bulls and Blackhawks play home games here from roughly late October through April. The rest of the year is booked with big-name concerts and conventions. Past performers at United Center include Pearl Jam, Rolling Stones, Ricky Martin, Bob Dylan, Dixie Chicks, Bruce Springsteen, Ice Capades and Cirque de Soleil. The UC also hosted the 1996 Democratic National Convention.
History
Ironically, the UC opened in 1994 without the player most responsible for its construction--Bulls star and Chicago icon Michael Jordan, who retired (for the first time) before the season began. Today No. 23 is immortalized in bronze outside the east entrance.
the House that Michael Built. the United Center is the House that Michael Built. You know...that guy Jordan? he was a pretty good basketball player for the Bulls? well, it's worth a trip to the United center for no other reason then to at least check out the statue of Mr. Jordan in front of the arena.
Go Blackhawks. I saw the Blackhawks play here and loved it. Local Hawks games are not shown on TV for some reason, so it was an added bonus to see the game live. The bathrooms were clean and not too spread out and I could imagine that this is a good venue for big music shows. I know I won't hesitate to find out when the opportunity arises.
Not bad for concerts. Saw U2 here last fall, and I gotta tell you, it sure beat the Tweeter Center. Most of that was probably because of the cool heart-shaped stage. Sound was good, facilities were clean and comfortable. Thumbs up. Now if the Bulls could just pull it together...
