Unprofessional for especially beginners. Don't waste your time going to this local hair joint call "WHY KNOT CONCEPT".I've been going there for close to 6 months and my dreadlocks was not well treated."Rod"the hair stylist keep changing the pattern each time i go there to do my hair.He be rushing,at one point my hair started falling off.My experience there was horrible,i had to drive for about 45min to get there,No parking spot for their shop,and no real reason to go there .I cut off my last appointment after realizing that my hair was falling off and for the fact that i wasn't pleased with the way he did my locks last.DON'T GO THERE,some of this reviews are written by their friend.I would also say that i see people going there with very long locks and good looking locks but not sure if they are the original stylist .I guess all they can do is to take care of long dreadlocks and that's it

IM IN LOVE WITH THIS SHOP. WHY KNOT IS A GREAT SHOP. I LOVE CHARLES HE IS THE BEST... IDK WHY HE IS GETTIN A BAD REP. IM GOING TO PUT THE PHOTOS UP OF MY HAIR...I GO HARD FOR PEOPLE THAT DO A GREAT JOB. ILL BACK CHARLES WORK TO THE FULLEST... WHO MAD..

customer satisfaction. I would like to apologize to Nubian12345 for her experience at Why Knot. Unfortunately a point could not be reached where she was content with her hair service and may it not deter her in her journey of locking her hair.

BEST NATURAL HAIR SALON IN CHICAGO. Audience,

I have been going to WHY KNOT for over the past four years and this is truly one of the best natural hair salons in Chicago.

Kenyatta, Rod and Charles are the epitamy of professionalism and class . My appointment was today

April 20 and it was a true delight. When I first came to WHY KNOT my loc were separating and in bad shape, the length was approx 1'. Kenyatta is honest and reasonably priced, she worked with my hair by using only the best hair products on the market. My loc now are over 5" long and healthy.

The atmosphere, pricing, talent and swag truly makes this establishment stand out from all others.

Keep up the Professionalism Team and you will always have me as a customer.

Unprofessional. Ok, so I read one of the reviews about Charles and decide to cancel my appointment. When Kenyatta asked why I was canceling, I told her because of the review. Well I allowed her to talk me keeping the appointment. Big mistake. I should have cancelled. First of all Charles did my hair and in my opinion, it was not professional at all. He is not SKILLED at maintaining locs. He twisted my hair in every direction. I noticed that he would palm roll some locs and not others. I finally asked what determined which ones are palmed rolled and which ones were not. Charles told me that he palm roll them all its just for some he would only twist to keep from having to put the comb down so much. REALLY? I had one clip holding about 25 locs. Had I known they were hurting for clips I could have brought my own. The twisting gel or product that they used is short of oil and water. There was no substance to what they used. It seems as thought my hair was dry twisted and if you know anything about locs, you know that is a big no no. Then to top off everything, Charles did not know how to style the hair, not even a simple flat twist. I think when your service is unisex your skill should be multi dimensional at the least. These people have a salon in an upscale neighborhood, but not upscale service. I don't get it. I paid $65 to have my hair washed and dry twisted and I am made as hell at myself. Learn from my mistakes. These are the reasons WHY NOT to give these people your money. The over rated reviews must be from the employees, friends or family member of the employees, because they are lacking skills,

EXCELLENT Natural Hair Care!. Been at Why Knot for 6 years and I'm never leaving! Rod and Kenyatta are absolute pros at their craft. They are knowledgeable, creative, friendly, and fun. They understand and embrace natural hair and its maintenance, and they really put their all into their work. They are punctual and professional. You will NOT be disappointed!

do not recommend it. I had a appointment with the guy name charles, not only I had to wait 30min for him to get to the shop, when he got there, he was on the phone for a while. The way he did my hair did not last no more than 3 days, so he can resume his conversation over the phone he left me in the hair dryer for about 45min. It really sucked. I think I just got the wrong stylish but I'm never going back

Mission Impossible Accomplished. I tried at least 5 different times in 4 years to lock my hair and each time I gave up because the texture of my hair is soft. However, Rod has been very encouraging and truthful. He told me that it would take a while for my hair to lock. Well, I am happy to say that most of my hair has locked. There are a few areas that are just plain stubborn but I am hopeful. :) Rod has been very accommodating with my schedule which can really be a quite a pain at times. I found the salon to be very friendly and comfortable. My biggest complaint is that there is no out front parking available. I need the exercise so I park on Madison Street and walk over.

Great salon!. I love going to this salon! The stylists are friendly, easy to talk to, and very professional. I get my dreadlocks maintenanced there once a month for a very reasonable price. There is not usually a long wait time, but Fridays are the busiest. I have been going to this salon for a year and I highly recommend it!
