The meat lovers pizza tops all other meat lovers I've previously had. A well worth heart attack.
It some very good thin pizza. Pat's is another winner over on Lincoln ave.
Windy City Pizza Club's Visit to DAG.
There’s a group of people who every month visit a new, sometimes popular, or lesser-known Chicago Pizza restaurant. That group is known as the Windy City Pizza Club. In their most recent meeting, they networked, the singles mingled, and they ate award-winning Pizza at D’Agostino’s Pizza and Pub in Wrigleyville.
D’Agostino’s Pizzeria has 4 locations throughout the Chicago area but their pride and joy location is at 1351 West Addison Street, just west of Wrigley Field. The location has been a Pizza icon since 1968 when Joe & Jan D’Agostino opened the doors, not realizing that their pub would soon be a Chicago Cubs pre and post game legend. D’Agostino’s is known as “Best in Wrigleyville”, however an experience recently with the Pizza Club proved negative, pizza wise. Everything else, was fantastic.
The Pizza comes in 4 ways. First, there is the award winning Thin Crust which is paper thin and while tasty, lacks any fulfillment because of its lack of, well, everything. A fan favorite is the Double Thin Crust as this type of pizza has double the amount of cheese and dough, making it more “Chicago” rather than Neopolitan like a pizza at Spacca Napoli or an italian restaurant. A frequent Windy City Pizza Club member David Stock said, “My shared medium olive thin crust tasted about the same as my Jewel brand frozen pizza I had a few days earlier. I will probably not go back here for pizza but I could see myself coming back for a few beers and to watch a game on one of the many televisions.”
Unfortunately reviews like David’s are more and more common at D’Agostino’s. According to several review sites, and other critics that frequent Pizza restaurants around the city say that Pizza places are moving away from their traditions that made them famous throughout the years. Regardless, there are others who would disagree and say that their Pizza is as good as it gets.
From a personal experience, their Stuffed Cheese, and Pan Pizza do a little better as they are a mess of cheese, sweet tomato sauce, and whatever else you would like to add on to their supersize pies. If you really want to feel heavy and full, this is what you need. For someone to eat one of D’Agostino’s Pizza’s, you need to be okay with the heavy amount of grease, even if you are only having a vegetable Pizza. For newbie’s to D’Agostino’s, try the Pan Pizza as it’s great to share, very fulfilling, and goes great with an ice cold brew before or during a game.
The restaurant is full of television, trains winding around the ceiling, red-checkered tablecloths, and a great menu that includes wonderful salads, like the DAGS Italian Salad or Walnut Gorgonzola Salad, which are both fun to share as an appetizer. They also have Pasta, Sandwiches, and Entrees like a Jumbo Fried Shrimp dinner, and desserts to please. They have a chunky homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie served warm with a gigantic Scoop of Homer’s Vanilla Ice Cream topped with Hot Fudge for only $5.95.
Overall, the restaurant wasn’t a major hit with the Club, but nonetheless, everyone agrees that it’s a place to go back to, just not for the Pizza. The best part of the whole experience for everyone was the service. Sometimes, large group service is a problem anywhere you go, but with a friendly wait staff, cooks that are organized, and bartenders that can keep the pace flowing on a crowded day, D’Agostino’s Pizza and Pub has the push to keep Cubs, Sox, and Fair Weather fans coming back for years to come.
Great Kids Night in Restaurant. We like the pizza and the food here but our favorite part really is that the restaurant has a weekly kids night every Tuesday with a fantastic balloon guy named Smarty Pants. He is a totally riot and makes some amazing balloons for all the table. I have had to literally beg one of my sons to let his balloon tiger go after about three weeks of it sitting in his room. Smarty Panks you rock!!!
Homemade Italian Beef Sandwich. I bought a beef sandwich from D'Agostino's . I am shock the beef sandwich was not good i had to add some seasoning for me to have flavor. I thought italian beef sandwich suppose to have mozzarella cheese on it too. and the fries were salty. But i will not order a italian beef from here.
Great Delivery. The pizza here is some of the best on the North Side. Both the thin crust and deep dish are worth getting and the sandwiches aren't bad either. I have never eaten in the restaurant, but the delivery is always on time.
New management - no more customer service.
I'll echo the previous poster and say that I was more that a little surprised when I called to redeem my 20 coupons for a free pizza and was told that they no longer honored them, effective June (with no notice). I didn't ask for a manager, but did tell the phone person that we wouldn't be back. "Ok" was the response; they don't care. I've been ordering from them long enough that this was actually the second free pizza I was going to redeem (so 40+ pizzas ordered, I undoubtedly lost some along way).
I had thought about calling tomorrow and asking for a manager, but sounds like that's pointless.
great pizza, poor customer service. My boyfriend and i have been customers of D'Agostino's pizza for over 3 years. We absolutely love the pizza! Last year we finally began collecting the coupons that if you "collect 20 you get a free large pizza". So this past Sunday I counted them up and finally managed to save 20 of them. We called to order our pizza and mentioned that we had the coupons and they told us they were no longer honoring them. We never received any notice and there is no expiration date on them. We ended up speaking to a manager who STILL wouldn't honor the promotion after we explained our situation. Over the past 3 years we've spent hundreds of dollars on pizza from here (sad I know) and they have now lost a few customers over their poor customer service for a $15 dollar pizza.
BEST pizza in the city!. Dags has become a staple in our house. We order pizza about everyother week and are never disappointed! I love the thin crust and the sauce is so good - like none other I've tried. My mom comes to visit a couple times a year from out of state and has to have pizza from Dags everytime she's here! She loves it too!
Absolutely the best thin crust! You want parking?? Glenview has it. I love the pizza at Dags. I live north of the city and they have parking and delivery service for those rainy days at the Glenview location. Another positive note about a Dag's experience are the owners. A close family with quality and integrity behind their delicious food. I have been a customer for over 2 years now and recommend this establishment to anyone. Cozy Settings, friendly waitstaff and a nice italian feeling in the bar. You must visit Glenview in summer (after a Cubs game) for the best Sangria! Debbie D'agostino oversees all the litle details that make this a must see. All right Jeff helps too!!
First time customer!. I ordered for delivery. The delivery was prompt and the pizza was piping hot on arrival. I was surprised at how "large" the medium thin crust pizza was. The sauce was sweet and delicious, and the cheese was excellent. I will definately treat myself to another pizza from this establishment again.
