Editorial Review for Ginger Man – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
Open since 1977, the Ginger Man is named for a book by J. P. Donleavy about a hitchhiker in Europe, and an easy bohemian vibe pervades. A diverse crowd draws from the Metro, Wrigley and the neighborhood. A hodgepodge of art and mirrors, mostly from the owner's collection, decorates the walls, and there are three pool tables in the back room. The staff settles arguments with reference books and soothes the crowd with classical music.

This isn't the place if you're looking for a dance floor or flashy flat-screen TV's. However, if you want a decent selection of beers and a cool, laid-back atmosphere, this is the place. They have a couple worn pool tables and it's a great place to hang out, shoot the breeze, and have a few drinks. There's no snob about this place and it has a bit more genuine feel than the Piano Man (which is a block away).
Pros: Atmosphere, drinks
Cons: ?

there must be some irony in the fact that this bar is located in wrigleyville--to say the least its a hip chicago bar for the bookish.
