Marias work is top notch. I read the reviews and decided to give the Golden Needle a try and boy was I not disappointed. I've lived on State and Chicago for almost ten years and had never visited this place before. I took some sport coats and a pair of slacks to be altered and Maria did a fantastic job. She did the fitting for me herself which was also a plus. Her waiting room is also very nice reminds me of Europe. I will be making this place a regular stop from now on.

Golden Needle traingle. I Have used many tailors in the US including Golden needle tailoring most of them are just out of college students recruited for measuring and the tailoring is done by people in Asia. so you ultimately rely on Second hand service at an Expensive price.in most of the cases it is cash upfront. I have tried a real visiting tailor from Bangkok, "Savile Row Tailor". He was recommended to me by my Business colleagues in Bangkok and travels for Measurement taking 2 to 3 times a year to the US. I had 1 Suit 450 USD and a deal of 5 Shirts for 300 USD. All inclusive of Delivery to my door step. delivery time is 7 to 8 weeks ,which is the same as Golden needle tailoring and finished product / fitting is of a far better quality. you can check him out at www.savilerowfashion dot biz

Pros: better than any US service, Price

Cons: some might feel uncomfortable with tailor from the other side of the planet. not me.

Simply Amazing!. I had two vest that I really liked but were a bit big (even thought they were small) I guess that's the price of mass produced garments. I took them in to Golden needle with high hopes and Maria did not disappoint. I picked them up today and tried them on and I could not help but smile at the AMAZING work she did. They fit perfectly and how I always wanted them to fit. While on the train I couldnt believe the job she did that I just had to check the seams and found that her work is so perfect that its totally unnoticed. Much to my satisfaction there was a bit of evidence on one of the tags that showed where she tucked in and Im still amazed by it.

Great Work. Maria does excellent work -- a tad expensive, but worth it for the quality. The location is also very convenient, right off the Red Line. I would definitely use her again (once I have some money saved up!)

Maria works magic!. I am a personal wardrobe coach and would not offer my professional recommendation if it wasn't deserved. I send my clients to Maria when they need to have serious tailoring done and I also use her for my own tailoring needs. No matter how busy she is, I always feel welcome when I enter her store. To give an example of her work...I found the most amazing Dana Buchman trousers (the fabric was incredible) at a discount, although they were too big for me in every way. I went to Maria to see if she could literally re-construct them to fit my body and she did it perfectly! You can't even tell they were tailored. I will continue sending my clients to Maria and using her personally for my own tailoring needs. Your image is important, and her high-quality craftsmanship is well worth the money.

Excellent Tailor. Done right every time.. Through more than 5 years going to Golden Needle I have had excellent results every time. Here's a tip: buy a quality suit from the least expensive place you can. Golden Needle will give it the alterations you need to make it look custom.

Best Tailorshop in Downtown Chicago. I will agree with the other reviewer that Marias prices are a little on the pricey side, but you really get what you pay for. Golden Needles work is always top notch and I would not trust just anybody with my clothes. If you have an expensive article of clothing that cant be replaced and needs to get tailored maria has 22 years experience and she will make sure that you get that piece of clothing back better than you brought it in. Maria is always willing to go that extra mile to make sure that you are satisfied. I also hear that even Oprah Winfrey brings alot of her clothes for Maria to tailor.

All in all Golden Needle is the best tailor shop in the city.

Though owner Maria Tesseris has been patron of this downtown business for 22 years, she still runs it with the enthusiasm and loving attention with which she began. Her alteration and repair work is as extensive as her customers' needs, from formal wear to casual, from minor repairs to major resizing to alteration.

Very Expensive. Yes, they do quality work. However, the rates are very high. I just had a button and metal fastener fixed on a pair of jeans. The button was a simple one, just needed to be sewn back on. This cost $20!! I was also told I would be called when the repairs were finished and that it would take a week. They never called me, I called them over 2 weeks later.

Great Shop. Golden Needle has been at the state and chicago for almost 4 years now (was on chicago & clark for 15 years before that) Its one of downtowns best tailor shops, maria is friendly and always goes the extra step to insure that everything is on time and the way I like it.
