Best Interior Designer. My husband and I purchased our second home in Tel Aviv, Israel a little over a year ago. We had a very unusual request for a Chicago based designer. We wanted someone who would design our Tel Aviv home utilizing materials, accessories and furnishings from Israel. We selected Shelly Handman of Handman Associates to do the job. He was amazing! He traveled to Tel Aviv in the early stages of the project to investigate what types of materials he could use. We looked at stone, marble, fabrics and furnishings that were all representative of the locality. He made various and many selections during this first trip. Once all of the orders were assembled, he revisited our home in Tel Aviv to have a total installation. We now have a home in Tel Aviv that is unique to our taste in furnishings as well as indicative of the area in which we live. To this day, I don’t really know how he did it, but I am so grateful that he did!

Talented & Patient. Shelly Handman designed our home in Chicago and we've been thrilled with the results. After finding the perfect site for our vacation home in Palm Springs, the next call was to Shelly. Hopefully he would be able to accomodate our schedules along with our architect and contractor. All was a go and after two years in the making, we just moved in. We've learned it's more fun the second time around! Having already worked together the trust and confidence had been established. This let us venture out to explore more design options and to go out on that proverbial limb. We had much more enjoyment with this design process and it comes across in our home. The successful hunt for odd furnishings and accessories is apparent the moment you step through the door. When Shelly suggested we shop locally for many of our things we thought he meant Chicago. We found that Palm Springs has a weatlh of design sources with more variety and better pricing.

We used to rent a home while vacationing in the desert. Now we have one of our own and no matter which residence we're in at the time we're thrilled to be home.

Great design team. Building a new home or even refurnishing an existing one is no easy feat. But, with the help of a skilled design team our worries were quickly put to rest. My family renovated our home on the north side of Chicago. Early on in the processes we enlisted the help of interior designers Shelly Handman and Shu-Yi Tsou. I was very impressed with their knowledge and professionalism. They transformed our dated home into beautiful and timeless space. In addition, they accommodated all of our needs and worked around the budget we had set to make sure all of our design requests were fulfilled. Overall, our home renovation was a great success and I am thankful I hired experienced designers like Shelly and Shu-Yi. I strongly recommend their services if you are in the process of renovating your home or even building a new one.

very helpful staff, beautiful results. My experience with Handman Associates was nothing but wonderful. The creativity and enthusiasm of the designers, Shelly and Shu-Yi, were apparent throughout the entire process. They renovated my dated Lincoln Park house and turned it into a comfortable space that is warm and full of life. They turned my visions into a reality and my house into a home.

The design process was easy, fun, on-time and within budget. The helpful administrative staff at Handman Associates were a joy to work with and always courteous and thorough.

Shelly and Shu-Yi have the talent and experience to turn any space into an enjoyable environment that is both functional and beautiful. I couldn't recommend Handman Associates more.

Handman Associates. My wife and I built a rather large home on Chicago's North Shore. The process would have been a daunting one except for having Handman Associates on our team along with our architects, Cohen-Hacker.

Shelly Handman and Shu-Yi Tsou patiently guided us through hundreds of material, electrical and plumbing selections till we found the ideal ones for the look we were after. As the architectural selections moved into furnishings, we were again overwhelmed at the choices. After Shelly pointed out the positives of the selected furniture floor plans for each room, he and Shu-Yi assembled presentation boards of furnishings and fabrics that allowed us to see how each room was unfolding and leading into the next.

After years of planning and construction, our house is finally completed. It is through the patience, understanding and listening power of Shelly and his team that we are thrilled with the end result. We're actually looking for property across the lake for a weekend retreat and it's comforting to know who our team will once again be.

Fabulous interior design experience. Shelly Handman, of Handman Associates is a pleasure to work with. He held my hand throughout the entire design process and worked hard to utilize several of my existing items in a brand new way, thereby helping me to manage my costs while creating a brand new look for my home. His firm is caring and warm and willing to talk to me about any aspect of the design process. They called me after each delivery to make sure that every item met my expectations. I couldn't have hoped for any designer better than Shelly and Shu-Yi of Handman Associates. My house looks like a home - MY home!

Great Remodeling Job by Designer Eskra – Blending the Old w. My house was originally built in 1926 and a new section was added in 1969 so when we decided to do some major renovations, we knew we had a challenge on our hands. Whoever would design the changes would have to blend the old with the new and work with the architect to give us the ultimate look we were seeking. Chris coordinated the architect, the carpenters, tile setters and the finishing workers for three bathrooms, the new marble floor tiles and all the “finishes” and he handled all in a superb manner; even the painting was integrated in a classy fashion.

The attention given to the bathrooms was especially appreciated; little things like being able to step into the shower easily; the cabinet work; the lighting; the fantastic large mirrors ; the selection of the hardware and the toilets; the shower options – rain dome, handheld and regular showers; the hand rails. People visiting us continue to marvel about how classy the bathrooms are!

Thanks to Chris, the results culminated in an overall finished product that blended the old with the new and made us very pleased. Simply put, the remodeled portion blends in such a fashion that it “belongs” with the rest of the house.

What began with a great deal of apprehension ended with a feeling of complete satisfaction! In retrospect, we wished that we had done the remodeling sooner.

I highly recommend Chris as a “complete” designer!

A wonderful design firm and designer. I just loved working with Handman Associates and especially Chris. The entire team was wonderful. I could not be more pleased with the final look of my home, it is everything I hoped to achieve in working with a professional design studio. Chris was creative and listened when I expressed what I wanted the final interior to look like. My life has been greatly enriched by my beautiful apartment and I feel a sense of pride when people come into my home and remark on the interior design.

my house in now a home!. Getting this project accomplished was quite a feat. Chris Eskra managed the entirety of it with great style, professionalism and accuracy. Even if I was out of town, Chris took the time to make sure every detail was being done correctly - contracter, painters, furniture makers! It could not have been done without his fine eye for detail. He ofered great ideas and stayed within budget. A terrrific experience all-around thanks to Chris and the team at Handman Associates.

The Best In Chicago and Manhattan. Chris Eskra selected the color, furniture, and lay-out of my Manhattan studio. Chris designed the studio to fit my needs, and the needs of my guest using the studio during their visits to the city. My expectations were significantly exceeded.
