I have been going to Robert for over 26 years. I first went to him, at the recommendation of one of my best friends, who also still goes to Robert. Essentially, everyone we have ever referred to Robert, either is still a client, or has moved away.

From color to cut, friends, family and complete strangers comment on my hair, telling me how shiny, healthy and beautiful the color is. I have had everything done at one time or another; highlights, single process, both and most recently tried the Brazilian Keratin Treatment and LOVED it.

For the past 18 years, my primary residence has been in South Florida, and I still haven't been able to find ANYONE else who can compare with Robert's talent, professionalism and attention to detail. From Palm Beach to South Beach to California, no one else I have ever gone to can even come close.

Whenever Robert colors my hair, he never does the exact same thing. There is always some type of variation. I believe it is one of the secrets to his talent and success. No other colorist I have ever gone to colors hair the way he does. He is a perfectionist in every sense of the word.

Robert's staff are all equally professional with the same attention to detail that he has; all having been trained by him and any work they do is done under his direct supervision.

Robert Lucas Salon is the perfect combination of professionalism and talent, in a warm, welcoming, friendly atmosphere.

I don't know what I'm going to do, when Robert decides to retire; probably cut off all my hair and/or go gray.

Robert has given me the best highlights in my life. He listen to all I had to say and without damaging my hair or turning it to an ugly orange, Robert gave me pretty natural highlights. Robert is the best! I will never trust anyone else with my hair.

The Best!. The Best....is the only way to describe the services from Robert and his staff.

He is a gifted colorist, always finding the right color and yet changing it periodically for an update. Through the years, I have had single processes which perfectly matched my natural color, blond highlights, red highlights, light brown highlights and even a combination of red & blond highlights. Each time my hair color has turned out terrific. This evidenced by all the compliments I receive. I have never had so many compliments on my hair.

As far as a stylist, Robert is well above the rest in this area too. He is able to give you a cut which is right for your face and also your type of hair-no hair cuts which look great when you leave the salon and then when you get home and do it yourself, looks nothing like it should. Through the years I have recommended many friends to Robert. They too have become hooked and won't go anywhere else. What more could you ask for-the perfect colorist and stylist in one!.

Brazilian Keratine Treatment. The Brazilian Keratin Treatment, “BKT” that I have had at Robert Lucas Salon has been truly life altering for me. I have been fighting curly, frizzy hair for a lifetime and that battle is over. I can now wash my hair and let it dry naturally and it looks like I had my hair professionally blown out. This summer there was a great deal of humidity and it had no effect on my straight hair. I no longer have to limit my working out so that I don’t sweat too much and ruin a blow out or plan for a blow out prior to each and every event. I can have great hair all the time without the time or expense of going to the salon.

In the past I tried so many different products and procedures including the Japanese straightening at another salon that totally destroyed my hair. I am done searching; the “BKT” is a miracle product for curly hair. It is a bit pricey, but if you factor in not having to get a blow out for special occasions, the expense does not seem so great. Truly, I believe the product is priceless!!! The “BKT” is a bit of a time investment, but the Robert Lucas Salon provides a warm, comfortable, unpretentious environment to relax and unwind during the treatment!

Best Hair Colorist in the Nation. I have been going to Robert for over 15 years. He is absolutley the BEST hair stylist and colorist in the nation! What makes him unique is that he instinctively knows what will work for you and what won't. He has a gift of creating a cut and color that compliments your complexion and overall lifestyle. I get compliments all the time on my hair. Everyone asks who did it and that to me is the greatest compliment! The atmosphere in the salon is professional and very comfortable. Robert and his staff are as wonderful as they are talented. Remember that your hair is your crowning glory. Robert makes you look and feel like royalty!!!

WHO DOES IT BETTER?. No one can give my mousy brown hair highlites or color like Robert. and noone can cut it like he does. Or style it. sure,.I have to take out a small loan to pay him,.but it's worth it. I just do without some things. He is no-nonsense, which I like. His Staff,.Debra & Diana,.are the greatest. If you ask them for something,.they will do their best to get it for you. I have never felt so comfortable in a salon,.even though it's in Water tower place. If you've gone to all the other downtown salons, like I have, & no one gets what you really want,.try Robert!

Naturally Red. I have been getting my hair colored and cut by Robert for almost two years now. Trust me when I tell you, he is the BEST! Through his knowledge and experience, he has made me love my natural red hair again. He will bring out the best in your hair and skin tone. Not only does he have his hands full with my color, I have abnormally thick hair and the cut he gives is like no other. Unfortunately, I may be relocating for my job and the one thing that scares me the most is being over 1,000 miles away from Robert!

Amazing Colorist!. I cannot tell you how amazing Robert Lucas is at his trade. I recently dyed my naturally very blonde hair to a chestnut brown, and wanted to take it back to its blonde beginnings. I knew I needed an expert to get it right (because I'm extremely picky with my hair...especially with blonde hair). I googled "best chicago hair colorist" and Robert's salon came up. After reading all of the reviews, I knew I wanted to check him out. After speaking to the receptionist, Robert himself called to talk to me about what exactly it was that I wanted to do with my hair. He made me feel very comfortable, as well as made me feel confident he could get the job done and do it well. GREAT customer service! Once the day of my appt. came Robert ended up having to spend extra time on me because I had more hair than expected. When the final result was revealed, I couldn't have been more pleased. It looked so natural and beautiful...and there was absolutely nothing natural about it! YOU MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH HIM! He's simply the best. And his assistants are the sweetest, most down-to-earth people ever. Be prepared to wait a little bit to get in with him, but perfection takes time. He's well worth every penny and worth the wait. Trust me.....I don't review and give 5 stars to just ANYONE.

really really good. I have had blonde highlights for years now when i first started to get them they were great but after a while my hair looked all one color and it seemed that i needed them done sooner and sooner...i started t search for a new colorist and found the Robert LUCAS Salon web sight there were so many great looking hair colors on there i decided to give it a try Robert layered several shades of color into my hair ...and when he was done it looks like when i first started to color it but better honestly my color is really really good i am so glad i found Robert

i no longer have my hair colored in New York. i used to live in new york city and had been flying back there to have my hair cut and colored because it did not seem like any of the Chicago haircolorists i tried GOT IT then I met Robert casually at a friends party and after talking to him i just had the sense that he would be very good at his craft i now do not find it necessary to have my hair done in NYC Robert truly GETS IT ..i am a very satisfied customer
