In Short – Hanging lamps and gilded mirrors lend the right amount of drama to this Clark Street space, but the ambience is low-key. Booth seating and a soundtrack of string-heavy Middle Eastern music set the mood for lingering, as regulars gather for crepes that go from the local to the exotic. Flavors are light, earthy and unexpected, with ingredients like cilantro, tapanade, arugula, goat cheese or pine nuts. A dozen dessert crepes satisfy sweet tooths.

Great food, great service

I went to this restaurant due to its rave review in Timeout Chicago. It's in the heart of Andersonville's Clark street where there are lots of shops and restaurants which makes parking a bear but before or after to-dos really easy. The menu has an extensive variety of crepes so you can have your breakfast type or your lunch/dinner types. I had the Icosium crepe: thin pancakes folded in a large triangle stuffed with veggies and cream cheese. You can add meet for, like, $2.99. I added the traditional meat that tastes like sausage with a little kick. There was a large assortment of crepes that were stuffed with fruit and seemed more pastry-like. I wanted to but was too full to have the "aziz" crepe that has strawberries and nutella and cream. Next time I will definitely try it. This crepe came with a bowl of soup. Topped everything off with mango juice. The service was great and attentive, there's Algerian music playing, and there's exotic Moroccan-esque decor. I will be back again.

  • Pros: Versatile menu, great service, great food, location

Great Crepes!

What a fantastic place! From the outside, its blue fluorescent light sign does not hint at the culinary passport inside. The decor is definitely inspired by northern Africa as is the music, and I really enjoyed looking at the light fixtures and the interesting shadows they cast. The small tables are close together, all the better to seat the steady flow of diners in search of a delicious meal wrapped up in a light, crispy, flavorful crepe (even late on a Sunday, the place was mostly full). The menu is extensive, spanning the globe and even allowing you to design your own crepe or salad. For dinner, I had an overflowing crepe Marakkech, which was phenomenal -- all of the flavors were strong but very complimentary, and the cream cheese (which, I'll admit, made me a little leery when I saw it on the menu) melted perfectly and added a touch of salty sweet creaminess. My husband made his own crepe -- with all of the options available, the possibilities are nearly limitless! Each crepe comes with soup -- either a yellow lentil squash or a chicken and vegetable -- both of which needed salt and are not nearly as well flavored as the crepes that follow. For dessert, my husband had a crepe with dark chocolate (he polished it off despite being extremely full from dinner), and I had the crepe limone with a scoop of pistachio ice cream (it sounds like a weird combination, but the creamy deep sweetness of the ice cream contrasted really well with the sharp tang of the lemon). Overall, an incredible dining experience -- we will definitely return!
