Chicago >Spacio Spa
“Nice atmosphere, a bit out of the way, very relaxing.”
“Great care was taken rising off the salt leaving my skin soft, fresh and tingly.”
“have also really enjoyed every service I have ever had there, but unfortunately I have moved out of the area and have not had a chance to return in a while.”
“It finally got to the point that I could no longer bear the treatment from the snooty front desk staff and I took my business elsewhere.”
Ok...I take it back (response to establishment's feedback). UPDATE 7/7/08: Ok, so there was alot of mixup and controversy over the last visit I had this past June. It is true that someone might have incorrectly booked my future appointment I made months prior to this and I did appreciate the last minute booking. I also appreciated the compensation made when the package I was looking to get wasn't available and when there was a mixup with the actual booking when I was only put down for 2 sessions instead of 3. No doubt I think this establishment does do a wonderful job and not once before have I been disappointed. The controversy here is the parking situation which I think needs some understanding. It's mainly metered parking and with sessions going more the allowed 2 hours I wonder how customers are supposed to pause their sessions just to feed the meter? I knew that I would be out for more than 2 hour so I had someone watch my car. Unfortunately, they missed one payment and I got ticketed. The facility did offer to pay, which I later found out after I wrote the negative feedback they did. The issue is, before I managed to confirm payment the same day I stopped in to ask about the payment, I received a notice from the City the ticket was NOT paid. I was then told about checking the City website for confirmation. Yes, the ticket was paid and I sincerely apologize for the inaccurate comments I made due to the notice I received. However, I do not appreciate the comment that I made a "scene" when I came to question about the notice. All I did was come in and ask to see the manager so we can calmly discuss the matter. Not once did I make a "scene". With this said, I hope we can put this mess behind us and continue to be a clientele of this 1st rate establishment. I do enjoy the services and the friendly staff and I hope to give back the 5 star rating I gave on my 1st visit. Should you decide to terminate business with me, then I apologize that we couldn't come to terms.
We accepted responsibility for the mix up on your appointment and tried to compensate you with a discount and a goody bag filled with products. Our failure to monitor your parking meter was unfortunate. Though it?s not our policy to offer this service, we accepted full responsibility and promptly paid your ticket. It was wrong to accuse us of overcharging you and not paying your ticket. You could have checked the City website and seen the ticket was paid. If you thought you were overcharged you could have contacted us and we would have credited your account if an error had been made. Instead you chose to pay us a visit July 3 where you created a scene in front of customers and staff.
Remember that above all the critic must get his facts straight and his emotions under control before he levels an attack on an establishment and its employees. Otherwise the value of online reviews is greatly diminished and ends up an arena for venting frustration and anger with little regard for truth
Get Pedicures. pretty pedicures. Nice atmosphere, a bit out of the way, very relaxing. Highly recommended for gift cards for day of spa
Loved this place...pure relaxation. This place was awesome probably one of the best I have been too. Clean, nice, new, accomodating. I looked at the other reviews and was surprised at some of the negative ones. This place has lockers and shower room to put your things, they offer nice leather chair waiting room, with healthy snacks, the rooms are large and completely full of ambience!!! I loved it...I got a wax and facial and definitely will go back again. I thought the staff was very nice and no pressure to buy...it was great!!!
Morning of Relaxtion.
The Morning of Relaxtion was just that and more. It started with a fabulous manicure with Sabrina, a true perfectionist when it comes to a french manicure, followed by a amazing hydrotherapy bath, which everyone should experience, an amazing massage from Rob ( the best I've ever had I think) and finally a wonderful facial from Margret. The morning started at 11am and finished at 2.30pm. Where did the time go? I do not know, but I'll definately be visiting Spacio next time I'm in Chicago.
The only thing I'd like to see is loungers in the waiting area, it would be more comfortable to lay down while waiting for your next appointment ( see The Santuary, London, UK).
Disappointed-wouldn't go again. I tried this spa after reading great reviews and seeing a promotional coupon (free manicure with purchase of massage) on their website. In a nutshell, it was very disappointing and not a "spa" experience at all. The staff was not accomodating when we realized the coupon had expired ONE day earlier. O.k...no big deal. The room in which you wait to be called before your massage was incredibly institutional-like. I felt like I was going to see the dentist (lighting, chairs-were oily by the way, atmosphere). The massage was average. Won't go back.
It's all about The Hydrotherapy Bath !!. Being a hairstylist for the past eleven years and working at very upscale salons has made me very picky when choosing a spot for my relaxation needs. Spacio can easily give Michigan Ave spas a run for their money. I went on my birthday and was treated like a queen . The staff was professional and attentive , the spa was modern, clean and very inviting. The Hydrotherapy bath was the most incredible experience I have ever had in a spa, it was truly invigorating. I also had a Basic AHA facial that left me glowing and relaxed . There was no hard sell pressure to buy products , which I really appreciated. Spacio has proven to be the place for me.
BEST spa in chicago. it wasn't until spacio opened that I EVER felt comfortable in a day spa. they have the best concept and they execute it well. Jake is best masseuse in the city along with the others, and Margaret is an aesthetician who's skills are amazing.... I would go there for anything i need done!!!!!
User review by jserviceb. Wow! Finally a Spa and Salon that is comfortable for Men. Its very laid back and comfortable. Havent taken a vacation in two years and wanted to start it out right with a massage before I took off. The front desk helped me to choose the most requested treatment. Body Cleanse. It started in this amazing tub that basically gave me a massage, than the tub became a table which I laid on while my whole body was exfoliated with seasalt, lavender and mint oil. Talk about invigorating and relaxing at the same time. Great care was taken rising off the salt leaving my skin soft, fresh and tingly. The therapist than assisted me as I basically floated down the hall to an enveloping warm room and gave me the most incredible massage I have ever had. My vacation was amazing but I thought of my next treatment at Spacio!!!
BEST HAIRCUT. I received such a great haircut at Spacio the other day. I thought they only did massage and facials but was very happy to find out that they do it ALL - hair cuts, color, manicures, pedicures, and even water therapy treatments like rain shower massage where they actually massage you while specially designed jets recreate a gentle falling rain - pure heaven!
Spa of the Year!. I have been to many of the most popular spas in Chicago and other major cities and as a man have always felt like a second class citizen where ever I have gone. BUT SPACIO IS SO DIFFERENT! I felt very comfortable there, and they have a great mix of male and female staff. It was not spa stuffy, I felt they were genuinely interested that I have a great experience. The massage therapist that I had was unbelieveably good. So good that when I left I called friends to get them to go. The atmophere is contemporary but warm, but not feminine or asian. There were women at spacio too, but I felt I was as welcome as they were. What a breath of fresh air in the spa world!
