Editorial Review for Armadillo's Pillow – by Kristin Herkto
In Short:
Stepping into the warm glow of this Roger's Park used bookstore, patrons are met with walls hung from floor to ceiling with works by local artists, jewelry and incense at the check-out counter, and (of course) shelf after shelf of pre-loved books. There are plenty of comfy places to sit and read for awhile while perusing selections, and the store's lenient loitering policy is very accommodating towards bookworms with more time than money.

If you've never been you must go! I found a stack of books I've been stalking for ages and another stack I never knew I needed. The place is magic, beautiful and odd. The walls are covered with an art installation called The Gathering Crowd it is a sculptor's dream of facial expression, hundreds of small clay sculptures for your consideration. The have sweet pearl jewelry and sharks teeth. I took home a beautiful framed beetle for a song. But back to the books.....so many great books it made me sweat. The prices were terrific. I mean some really special stuff for like 5 or 10 bucks. If you go you'll be glad you did. It’s a short block from lake and a nice beach. I had a dreamy walk post-Pillow to think. Every time I have ever walked into a used book store I've been looking for The Armadillo's Pillow.
Pros: great selection, fantastic prices

This is a great place for a little alone time. Quiet and cozy and made for avid readers whose favorite smell is used books. Staff is so welcoming and nice, it's tempting to just stop in and say hello. A great, eclectic collection and interesting finds. A hidden treasure for sure!
