“it was a huge turn-off for the restaurant, i think if i ever came back it would be during the morning but even still i'm scared.”
“ridiculously slow and frustrating service”

Biggest and best Bloody Mary bar in town. All-you-can-eat brunch. Karaoke on Sundays. What could get better than this?
Best Sunday Brunch!!. I've been going to Stanley's for over 10 years now and their Sunday morning brunch is second to none! There is something for everyone.....form fried chicken to fruit! Everything is fresh and tastes great and they never seem to run out of food no matter how packed the place gets.
A lifesaver on a Sunday morning.
The only bad thing I can say about this place is the crowd is always there.
The masses have spoken as this place will fill you up when you are suffering from the night before
Great Neighborhood Bar. If you like casual, neighborhood bar scenes this place is perfect. It's really unpretensious and ridiculously fun. The bartenders are absolute characters and the servers are always entertaining. It's hard to find a bar that you can hang out at multiple times a week and actually get to know and enjoy the people who work there. On occasion I've stopped in by myself and had a great time just sitting at the bar, hanging out and talking to people. Sunday brunch is the best and If you haven't been there on a sunday night for live karaoke you're missing out, sometimes it's crowded but so much fun.
Great Food... Slow Service... But Really Great Food.
I really enjoyed my experience at Stanley's, I came in hungry and left full. The portions were great and the prices were right. I came in on a business trip to Chicago, and a group of my business partners decided to try it out for lunch. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken, the Famous Mashed Potatoes, and the very cheesy Macaroni and Cheese. This meal was great, prior to my lunch entree, I requested the house salad with ranch dressing, the salad was prepared with some of the freshest vegetables available, and this was evident as I devoured my pre meal salad.
My only complaint about Stanley's during lunch was that we waited a long time before our order was taken (nearly 30 minutes before even being asked our lunch orders). This was something that I read about from another person who wrote a review on the place, and I experienced the same thing during our lunch. When our orders were taken, the food did not take very long to come out and the quality of the food more than makes up for the wait that we had to endure for receiving service. My advice for Stanley's in order to aid in providing speedier service would be to use the Hostess, (Who was at the time we were there a Miami of Ohio student), as a server because not many people were coming in and she was sitting the entire time that we were there waiting. The Hostess is being paid nearly the same amount as the waitress and the busser, and I feel that her time could be better spent as a server/ hostess. I was very impressed with the busser, he was a young Hispanic male who was working his tail off, he brought out our water, and food, we had more interaction with him that our waitress.

CitySearch helped me make a great find...
Thanks Guys. Stanley's an over all A+ experience!!!
good food, annoying "scene". went here for the first time on a friday night for a company party in stanley's private basement. the food was good- fried chicken, mashed potatoes, etc. leaving around 10pm, however, was horrifying. the front bar area (which we had to walk through to go outside) was packed, wall-to-wall with screaming drunk frat boys and girls. it was a huge turn-off for the restaurant, i think if i ever came back it would be during the morning but even still i'm scared. i'd rather eat elsewhere than overhear "chug contests" at the table next to me. (fyi i'm 22, not old and square)
ridiculously slow and frustrating service. I work in the neighborhood and would like to eat at Stanley's more often. The food is great. But the service is so insanely slow I literally can't afford to eat there. I've ordered burgers that have taken almost an hour. I've sat waiting so long to order that I've actually had to leave before anyone even came to take my order. If they could figure out how to serve lunch in under an hour and a half, this would be a great place to eat!
For those dieting and want to take one day off, this is the place to splurge. The atmosphere is great, especially Sunday evenings with live band karaoke, great afterwork and late night. The food is classic southern grub, Paula Deen style cooking with delicious fried chicken, fried catfish, barbeque ribs, and bomb sides, literally the mac and cheese is one of my top three mac and cheese I've ever tasted, it is so rich, cheesey, but a little dense, your stomach can only take so much deliciousness in one sitting. The mashed potatoes are also to die for. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, just don't expect to be ready to move right away after you finish your meal.
Second place?!?!?!?!. Stanley's is heaven. You looking to gorge, then go to Stanley's. Talk about good old-fashioned comfort food. Huge servings of stick to your ribs food. Plus a nice selection of cold draft beer - like I said heaven. You will need a wheel barrel to get out of the place after eating there. Try to buffalo chicken sandwich.
Stanley's Cooks Like Your Mother. Food like your mother cooks; homemade goodness and quality. Mashed potatoes and gravy are excellent, perfect texture and flavor, without getting fancy. Real turkey is really tender, fried catfish is nutty and slighyly sweet, and meatloaf like your mothers. You must try their greens, fresh and tender with a hint of smoked meat. Saturday and Sunday brunch, all-you-can-eat, will satisfy your soul and wallet.
The beer is cold, mac and cheese gooey, and the apple pie amazing at this Lincoln Park country kitchen..
The Scene
Talk about split personalities: Stanley's front room is a darkened bar full of Guinness-drinking locals, while in back, the dining area is a bright, family-friendly space, with '50s-style Formica tables and chairs, mismatched wallpaper and a jumble of scattered photos and tchotchkes.
The Food
Roll up your sleeves and loosen your belt--your arteries are in for it. Starting with the free basket of hush puppies and corn muffins, move on to comfort food at its finest (and fattest): mini-cheeseburgers, meat loaf, chicken-fried chicken and whipped potatoes and gravy. Crusty and cheese-caked on the outside, macaroni and cheese oozes inside--great as a side or a full meal. The best thing on the menu may be the apple pie, doled out in huge slices with layer upon layer of thinly sliced apples, sweet crust and delicate cinnamon ice cream.
