Avoid. All the waiters and staff were yucking it up while we were there the whole time. All sushi was NOT FRESH- spicy tuna & spicy octo were not spicy, others were sub-par. Rice was overcooked or old, tuna was not the right color. Wangs advise? AVOID!
Shine on Shine.
I consider myself some what of a sushi connoisseur and Shine definitely hits the nail on the head for fresh, consistently delicious authentic sushi. Sure...their wait staff isn't Japanese but their sushi chefs are- duh.

The prices are the same as ANY sushi restaurant in Chicago the only difference is that you get ambiance, class, comfort, style and excellent cuisine.
Thanks Shine- I love your outdoor patio, candle lit dinners, delivery, etc.
staff like headless chickens and horrible food. Went here on a Tuesday night around 8. The staff seemed like chickens with their heads cut-off. It took them 15 mins before the waiter came to ask us our drink orders. He told us to put are sushi orders in first since that was taking a long time. We ordered a couple of rolls and appetizers. The spider roll was horrible. You could taste the oil and it was old oil. It was horrible. I ate 1 peice and couldn't finish it. Also, ordered the rainbow roll and they used smoked salmon and eel on there...when did a dragon roll come with eel and smoked samlon? Service was horrible and food was horrible. This place was also expensive. $16 for chicken terriyaki and a couple peices of tempura...absurd!
Great Chinese/Sushi - A Rewritten Review.
My husband is picky about his Chinese food and this is the ONLY place that we BOTH agree on. The food is good - it's the only place where hubby can get the Chinese and I can get sushi that I like. It's a nice place for a date (romantic and cozy). Oh and they deliver too!
This is what I wrote a couple of years ago. Since I've written this review things at Shine Morida have changed. We ate in a couple of times and were treated pretty badly. I felt like they were doing me a favor by taking my order. The staff is just rude. The quality of food seems to have deteriorated too. Not as tasty and EXPENSIVE! Sadly, I have yet to find a good Chinese restaurant.
Great Sushi on Armitage. For the value and the atmosphere you can't find a better sushi in Lincoln Park (try their dragon roll). Make sure not to miss out on the non-sushi items as well, such as the Sea Bass Appetizer, it's second to none.
I like this place!. I've been a regular custom at this restaurant for a pretty long time! I always love their sushi and services. Staffs are smart and friendly. Ambience is great. Price is affordable.
Above Average. This newly renovated place is great for a weekend date. Sushi is fresh and worth to wait. Host staffs are friendly, wait staffs are efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. Sometimes sushi takes a little bit long, but overall it's definately worth to wait. Great place!
Bellow average. My first and last trip, place looks good, service - not impressive lack of skill and professionalism, food presentation - nothing special, sushi was fresh thumbs up, price for the value - isnt worth the trip from suburbs. Just OK would not recommend.
Case study in how not to run a restaurant. If you are looking for a fun time and good food, sit at the sushi bar and ignore the service staff and host stand. Your time is better spent chatting with the guys behind the sushi bar. Servers forget to bring drinks, managers have no control, and to top it off our party walked out without a simple, "How was your meal" or "Thank you for dining with us tonight". The food we ate from the kitchen was so-so and the sushi, while good, wasn't very innovative. Steer clear of this restaurant if you are looking forward to great service or a server that knows the menu.
Great Food + Hip Drink. This was my first trip here. Sushi and presentation was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. I've been to most of the other sushi places in the city and Shine Morida is one of the best. The fish is very fresh. I've brought many friends from out of town here and they all said it was great. The prices are comparable to most in the city, and with the outstanding Martinis, it is probably the best value of them all.
