In Short
An after-work crowd populates the pub's tight quarters during the week, while weekends draw a lively neighborhood group. The first floor is graced by a fireplace, a dark-wood bar and a red phone booth; subway maps and vintage posters add to the quaint atmosphere. British food specialties like fish-and-chips and shepherd's pie pair nicely with the selection of draft ales. A full bar is also available.

This is my favorite haunt in Chicago! It is a place where the owner proudly proclaims, " the food is not authentic - it's good!" The Red Lion has one of the best hamburgers in town as well as a great Fish and Chips! This is not a hip place for youngsters or hooligans. It is a great place to talk about politics and history without worrying about a fistfight breaking out! Those seeking a "let us entertain you" experience will be dissapointed! Those looking for the salt of the earth and a fine pint will be delighted and entertained! If you go in and ask for Budwiezer - your an idiot!

After reading the review on the red lion pub I and some friends on the recomendation went along and all I can say is it was absolutley terrible!!! Our drinks order was wrong not just once but twice and our food came to us over the space of one hour!! We were told that it was put into two seperate orders because there were so many........5 of us!!!!! And the food when it arrived was just as bad as the service. All I can say is that if this is what people think is a good English pub they need to actually get themselves over to england. It's the only English pub i have been to so far in the US where the beans aren't from England!!!!!!! Not to mention the horrible Cornish pastie. I can here hoping for a taste of England that i miss unfortunatley all i found was a poor American imitation >:( >:( >:(
