What People Are Saying About Dee's Mandarin Restaurant

In Short – To some, this unassuming bi-level storefront is a Sunday night delivery staple. But with its low lighting, floral paintings and polished wood tables and booths, Dee's is great for dining in, too. The traditional, Mandarin-style fare includes recommended starters like crab rangoon and won ton soup for two; entrees range from kung pao or Szechuan chicken to standout Mongolian beef, which boasts stir-fried strips of marinated beef so delectably sweet they could almost double as dessert.

The Extras:
The restaurant delivers to Irving Park to the north, Damen to the west, Madison to the south and Lake Shore Drive to the east ($2.50 charge, $15 minimum order).

Dee's is below average folks

by KBBBB at Citysearch

Not even close to good, subpar for sure.

We thought we'd give Dee's a shot, they're in our new neighborhood. I read over some of the reviews prior to eating Dee's and found that I do not agree with a number of the more positive rated reviews. It seemed that there was a lack of flavor and freshness.

We try out new restaurants often and of course we have our favorites. In this genre, we prefer Ben Pao- real good food. Even the chicken fried rice at BP is fantastic. Sometimes, it's better to stick with your favorites.

We will not order from Dee's again.

Fresh chicken!

by tacprc at Citysearch

This restaurant uses fresh, as opposed to frozen / packaged, chicken. The food tastes much better than the other Chinese take-out restaurants that I had frequented. The entrees cost a few dollars more, but the extra quality is definitely worth it.

dees - best chinese food in chicago

by rakeshk at Citysearch

to the lady who had the horrible experience with the hostesses, i am in a room with a group of people and read your rant to them, and no one can believe someone as whiny as you exists - what happened to you is not a big deal whatsoever, a simple mistake and the fact that you had write a negative review when you normally don't write reviews is simply pathetic.

i love dees since the first time i tried it, i think the szechuan beef is the one of the best dishes i ever had anywhere. one of the reviewers recommended the sesame shrimp - never had it, but i am looking forward to trying it tonight.

  • Pros: szechuan beef and all food in general i really think its the best chinese in chicago, so fresh and flavorful
  • Cons: not best atmosphere

WORST HOSTESSES EVER!

by adayung at Citysearch

I never write reviews, but I was so mad about my experience at Dee's recently. My reservation was made over a week ago and I checked the day of to make sure it was ok. I arrived for my reservation 2 minutes after my reservation time. I asked if I was the first person and they said yes. I waited for 20+ minutes. Finally a woman asked if I was with the large party in the back. I looked and everyone was there waiting for me to arrive (since i organized the dinner). I was SHOCKED and ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS, although I didn't make a big scene in front of my guests. Food is good, I have to admit, but this place left a sour taste in my mouth and I'll have to rethink to come back. If a guest has the courtesy to make a reservation, he/sheshould not be given wrong information and left waiting. The hostesses were so caught up with their carry-out orders, they don't even care about guests who actually come in to dine. AWFUL!

  • Pros: Food
  • Cons: WORST SERVICE, DON'T BOTHER MAKING RESERVATIONS, THEY DON'T CARE
