bad service, good food. reservations seem to be meaningless, were seated almost an hour after ours. Food is good, although pasta dishes were skimpy on sauce. Pork tenderloin special was rather bland. Did a good job with the grilled seafood appetizer (if you like octopus and calamari)

Forget-it-a-bout It! Great. What an authentic Regional Italian experience. The chief is from Naples and his food is to die for. Their daily specials are always great and the everday menu is so good-I love their staff. They make dining fun

Best Italian in Chicago. Ambiance is extraordinary, great food, friendly staff. A wonderful experience every single time. Highly recommend this place.

GOOD LORD THIS IS SOME GOOD ITALIAN. Had I not gone to this business for work I probably would have never tried it and that my friends would have been a HUGE mistake. I have been here 3x times now and every time the food gets better and better. I usually have the raviolis and They have a fantastic dipping sauce that goes with the freshest bread ever. The service can be slow sometimes but its worth it. I highly recommend trying this place.

Very Good Italian Restaurant; romantic atmosphere, Traditional Dishes prepared with Care. Eaten here twice and impressed on both occasions. Entrees are traditional, but obviously prepared with care, and anything but ordinary. Place is warmly to provide a real "Italian" atmosphere. Upon arrival, you are immediately greeted by a complimentary 'appetizer' of marinated eggplant together with foccacio bread. On the menu, Muscles appetizer was fresh and tasty with white wine sauce. For main entrees, the LaSagna was one of the best I've had with flavorful filling including a very rich cheese and eggplant. The Spaghetti with cherry plum tomato sauce, topped with large shrimp, scallops and muscles is also recommended. Service is consistently attentive and friendly.

perfetto!. Filippo and his wife Annette have closed the Deerfield branch, making us more uniquely lucky--buona fortuna to them for providing authenticity with creativity--Filippo is a native Italian, and studied culinary arts in Paris, and London (as I recall)--thus a marriage of heritage and technique which makes a friendly restaurant exceptional without being artificial or pompous. The portions are ample (scotch that 2003 comment), the wines very good, the desserts fine as well. Simplicity can be mistaken for superficiality--this trattoria has depth and honesty. And it's fun!

This small family-run storefront has a following for its well-prepared, simple Italian cuisine.. In Short
Mismatched plates and handmade flowered tablecloths are accented by faux finish walls, exposed ductwork and Euro-pop music. The menu choices begin with salata ignorante, brimming with dressed artichoke hearts, tomatoes, cucumber, basil, black olives and fresh mozzarella. Risotto fratta is rosy with tomato and finished with goat cheese, bits of ham, peas and asparagus. Pollo pizzaiola is a chicken breast in a sauce of fresh oregano, garlic and tomato.

Great food, price is right. Ate there for the first time, yesterday (7/21/2003). The manager/owner served us himself, and was wonderful. Staff were very polite and attentive. Food was great, and in reasonable portions. The decor was as described in other reviews - plain, but not spartan. We really enjoyed it and it's a quick walk to the movies. Family friendly.

Simple But Good Italian Food. The ambiance is good, the service fine, the food fairly tasty. The only problem about the food is that the portions are rather small. The seafood risotto arrived with all different kinds of seafood as described inthe menu, but the shelled mussels made the portion look bigger than it was. Left still hungry. Had the nearby Thai been open at that time, it would have been our definite preference.

Just like the real thing. Been there 2 or 3 times ... very pleasant surprise because first time was unplanned ... great appetizer antipasto ... good wine and olive oil ... and pasta in edible portions (one of my constant gripes about US restaurants).

When we want authentic Italian, this is the one.
