Pure Garbage. Quite possibly the worst "cheeseburger" I have ever had. After sending the fist one back for being overcooked to hockey puck status, my second burger tasted like day-old meatloaf. My wife took a bite to verify and she said it was the worst p.o.s. she had ever tasted. All of this on top of the fact that service was extremely slow even though we were the only ones there.

Don't be fooled by the menu description of the cheeseburger. It is not a cheeseburger. It is ground beef with onions and excess garlic powder mixed in and then marinated overnight. It is more meatloaf patty than cheeseburger.

My wife also ordered the BBQ Chicken salad on the recommendation of our waiter. She received a bed of wilted lettuce with a sprinkling of stale tortilla chips and dried out chicken breast.

If I could, I would give it 0 stars. Pure garbage.

Worst Customer Service!. I walked into Charlie's with a few friends on a Friday night around 9. We sat a booth and waited for a someone to wait on us. After 20 minutes no one came to clear the table and no one came to take our order. I got up and walked to the bar and asked to see a menu. Bartender handed me a menu after 15 more minutes I got up and asked the batender politely: "Can someone take our order?" The Bartender (possibly discriminative) yelled from the bar: "What do you want?" At this response, my friends and I walked out. We did not get to try the food or drinks after 40 minutes of waiting to be attended- the bar was almost empty except for a handful of people at the bar!

Great Restaraunt!. It was busy but I did not feel crowded. The staff was very friendly, and fun. The food came quickly, and was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed it very much, and would recommend it to anyone.

Lincoln Park bar popular for its great beer selection, comfort food and beer garden.. The Scene
Blocks from the DePaul campus, amid the bustle of Webster Street retailers and restaurants, this location of the popular local chain attracts mostly congenial, clean-cut types from the neighborhood--everyone here seems to share a love for Lincoln Park camaraderie. The interior boasts the company's signature style: Plenty of woodwork, which is cozy at night, but brightened during the day by generous windows, plus brass-tone accents and a good-spirited clock that moves backwards.

The Draw
Folks go to Charlie's for the eclectic beer and food menus, and (especially in the summer months) crowds flock to its spacious patio with a retractable roof. As for the food, go straight for the comfort food--meat loaf, pork chops and, of course, burgers. The roasted vegetable sandwich with goat cheese is a fresh and tasty treat for vegetarians and omnivores alike.

Unbelievable. Yesterday evening my boyfriend and I went to Charlie's Ale House to enjoy the incredible weather. We got a great seat by the full-length open window and after about 45 min. the sun started going down and it got a bit chilly. We asked our waitress if there was any way we could close the window but if that wasn't a possibility we understood and would just switch tables. She took our question to her manager and shortly he came to our table and just looked at us and said, "Absolutely not" and walked away. It was the absolute WORST experience either of us has ever had with the service industry. It wasn't that our request needed to be fulfilled... but his response was uncalled for. I will NEVER go to this beer garden again... there are too many other places with out door seating that have friendly management.

Bad Service, Bad Service, Bad Service. The waitress took forever to take our order, brought the wrong food, and refused to make eye contact whenever she came by and we were trying to get more drinks. The restaurant wasn't busy and there was no reason for this total lack of service.

Great food, great atmosphere. Charlie's Ale House always offers terrific food and the atmosphere both inside and outside is great. Bartenders and waitstaff are always friendly as well. Be sure to try the spinach dip - amazing.

best outdoor place for food or drink. Their outdoor beer garden is the best place to sit for weekend lunch, dinner or weekend drinking. I love their sandwiches they are creative and tasty. Service is all right. Note: it is worth a wait for an outside table.

Quaint neighborhood bar. What a great place. I've been there for a good friends birthday with people who were out of town and I've never had a bad experience. Seating outside is a bear in the summer.

Secret Garden. There's no place like Charlie's in the summer. The beer garden is a cool oasis in the middle of Lincoln Park, with its ivy-covered walls and shade trees. One of Chicago's hidden gems...
