What People Are Saying About Copa

In Short – Red and gold vintage wallpaper and a zebra-striped wooden bar create a retro vibe at this neighborhood lounge. Early comers can choose from three booths dwarfed by enormous dome lights or a few tables in the front and back of the bar. DJs spin mostly hip-hop and rock on weekends for an upbeat crowd. Six taps and a full bar provide libations for locals looking for a place to call home.

Avoid Copa!

by carolem1 at Citysearch

A friend and I had a late dinner near Copa and saw the sign so we tried it. I wish we hadn't. The place has a very strong metrosexual feel, a trend that died several years ago. I don't mind some smoke in a bar, but I've never gagged on it as I did at Copa. The drinks we had were just so-so, and it took 10 minutes to get them as the bartender could not be distracted from gabbing with her friends. I'll take my hard-earned money to a friendlier bar that does not treat its customers as annoyances like Copa does.

believe me, it's a good thing! COPA RoCkS

by rustyscrew at Citysearch

Totally cool place with hot women and lots of cool stuff in this place: COPA. I liked the retro design , felt like Sinatra was gonna show up! But he would have to listen to cooler tunes played by DJs. I didn't see any bad attitude from anyone there!!

  • Pros: cool martinis, lots of specials, cool music

Awful

by fredjames5 at Citysearch

This place is slightly bigger than a CTA rail car, and almost as enjoyable. If we wanted to hang around people putting on stupid club attitudes we would have skipped Copa and gone straight to Le Passage. If these people are "hipsters" then Chicago's nightlife scene is going downhill in a hurry.

  • Cons: small, rude patrons
