Editorial Review for Rose's Lounge – by Jennifer Olvera

The Scene
By day, this is the sort of watering hole that attracts sad drunks; at night, a diverse crowd of thrifty revelers. Dark as a cave, this pit stop features off accents like plastic grapes, a stuffed snowman, airbrushed art, worn rugs and floral tablecloths.

The Draw
Super-cheap beer on a daily basis. If you can get past the edgy decor, broken-down-looking juke and sometimes-sad clientele, you can guzzle for what amounts to pocket change. Three taps feature $1 Old Style and Miller Lite, as well as $3 Guinness, while bottles offer supplemental slurps. The full bar features a few updates such as a Skyy cosmo, but basics really reign supreme. Settle on a beat up-bar stool and have a drink--that is, unless you mind explaining to the suspicious bartender/owner why you've come if you don't look the part.

This place deserves a review in CitySearch. They've got real people, and real drink prices. With dollar drafts you'll find millionaires waltzing in for annonymity and to just hang with regular people, and you'll find someone try to get a beer with 88 cents. It's ecclectic, and they have more adornments of antiquity than you can shake a finger at. They have a batman alarm clock that I had when I was 6. The bartenders are from Macedonia, a mother son team. They make you feel at home and gladly argue with you if they think you are wrong. If you can't take it don't go. But I enjoy their honesty. You are, of course, welcome to argue back and still be served. Dollar drafts, 50 cent pool, and 7 plays on the juke for a dollar.

Pros: Dollar drafts, 50 cent pool, 7 plays on the juke for a dollar

Cons: Dive bar, all that comes within a dive bar

Divey yet unscary bar that serves cheap drinks to non-scene-seekers in Lakeview.  See the full editorial review.
