Editorial Review for aliveOne – by Karla Zimmerman
The Scene
This velvet-curtained, candlelit corner bar flaunts the body of a lounge, but its heart is pure rock and roll. The long, L-shaped room offers table seating under blue, space-age lamps up front and below wall-mounted cases of 1,000 bootleg CDs and tapes on the sides. Cushiony couches provide seating in an alcove that also has a pool table. Photos of the rock pantheon (Dylan, Clapton, Dead, et al)--many donated by a Rolling Stone photographer--dominate the walls and appear under glass tabletops. An inconspicuous back room with separate bar and sound system hosts DJs weekends.
The Draw
Weeknights may find the bartender among his jeans-and-Vans-clad patrons watching concerts on the flat-screen TV. But weekends, when the 20s-to-30s crowd becomes a nearly impenetrable mass, he's behind the redwood bar hustling quality brews and premium cocktails. The jukebox is stuffed with live recordings of everyone from Hendrix, Zeppelin and Allman Brothers to Nirvana, Phish and Radiohead.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyPints are $2 on Tuesday nights.
Where to SitSnag a table in the front room to be in the midst of all the action, or snuggle on the couches of the alcove for a more intimate experience. For something completely different, head to the back room, when it's open.
The ExtrasaliveOne is also available for parties and events.

Front room is more low key-jukebox has great live shows. Back room is a little bit more upbeat with a dance floor and DJ.
Pros: Low key crowd, great music selection

Dope low key bar to listen to the best hip hop of all time. The DJ on Friday nights is ridiculous and anyone who enjoys real hip hop should be there on Friday nights!
Pros: HIP HOP
Cons: small
