The Scene
Although Danny's was actually someone's pad more than 50 years ago, the Bucktown tavern is more swank smoking den than fraternity mixer. Try not to stick out if it's your first time here, as most of the lounging lizards are regulars. Leave your overt drunken nature at home, too. Obnoxious behavior isn't tolerated.

The Draw
The well-stocked bar greets you with potently poured drinks by grungy young bartenders. Whether you're looking for solitude or you're with a group of friends, head to the back for sparsely furnished semi-private alcoves with leather sofas and chairs. Watch your step! If not for the dangling lit butts and tabletop candles, you'd have a hard time seeing inside this hipster's paradise. DJs spin an eclectic mix every night of the week, from reggae and funk to electronica. The vibe is as dope as the clientele it caters to.

Danny's used to be my favorite bar to go to in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area. Over the past few years, though, it has become too hipsterfied for its own good. That still does not diminish the fact that it's a cool spot to hang out, but you might be better off trying a weeknight. The lighting is minimal, and mostly done by small candles. The wall designs are eccentric, and a DJ spins ambient music most nights that will usually not hear at other places. The beer selection is nice, but if I recall they do not accpet credit cards. If you beat the crowds you can sit down and have an intimate night over some candles. If the crowds beat you, you may end up shoved against a wall somewhere trying to breathe, so be careful.

Meh...this place was just like any other hipster bar. Trendy, crowded on weekends, hard to find a place to sit, expensive drinks, even on the weekdays. Music was fairly good. Nothing to write home about, though.

Good music and comfortable atmosphere. Great stopoff on your way down to wicker park especially on a weeknight.
