Love this dive bar right in the heart of Lincoln Park, gathering its name from the its street corner: Burling and Wrightwood.
check it out. man this place was fun.... drinks where cheap and cheap beers!!! there mytouchtunes jukebox was awesomeee!!
Mistake. This place is horrible. Bad service bad drinks, and bad prices
NOWAY. This use to be a decent bar, but they run way too many gimmicks and their prices and "specials" are ridiculous.
Friendly Neighborhood Bar. Burwood has a friendly atmosphere that makes it easy to become a regular. It's a geat place to relax and catch up with friends.
Great place ruined!. The Burwood used to be the local spot and it is one of the oldest taverns in Chicago. But change of management led to the introduction of pink christmas lights, an unplugged jukebox, the most expensive pool table, unfriendly bartenders (most of the cocktail servers and door men are still good) and the manager's IPOD belching out Madonna, show tunes, and bad rap while the Bears, Cubs, and Sox are silenced. Need I say more.
Quintessential Neighborhood Bar!. The Burwood Tap (or the wood) is your quintessential neighborhood bar. We were in during the week and enjoyed a free buffet. The bartender was friendly and seemed to know everyone. It was full of young and old alike - all I would imagine were regulars. With that said, it doesn't shock me that it won Best of Citysearch 2006 neighborhood bar. We'll be back soon!
Totally lame bar. This is the worst bar in Lincoln Park. Terrible service, drink specials that aren't special at all, and a crowd that consists of dudes looking for fights and ugly girls. Stay away, trust me!
Fun and friendly staff!. This is a neighborhood bar in it's truest form! If you want to hang out in casual surroundings where the staff will most likely remember not only your name, but your usual drink, this is your kind of place. In this day and age of clubs and upscale joints, it's nice to know a true neighborhood pub still exists! Kudos Burwood!
go somewhere else. This is really a nice place, but the service is terrible. Went in with 4 friends and ordered drinks and shots. After we get about half of our order, we see the blonde bartender taking another order? After we remind her that she should finish our order first, we start getting a attitude. Second round. After trying to get her attention for 10 min., because she is to busy texting on her phone, which seems to be the norm with all the girls here, we finally get another drink. I really liked this place, but wont be back untill they fire their staff.
Longtime Lincoln Park tavern attracts both new and old neighborhood patrons..
The Scene
Colorful vintage decor, including a dangling tuba and '20s-era bicycle, hearken back to Prohibition (long before the bar's and its patrons' times), which gives a sense of history to the completely gentrified, yuppie-studded surroundings. Although the clientele ebbs and flows depending on day and time, a prototypical comfy-in-cargo-khakis crowd prevails throughout Burwood Tap's two rowdy rooms.
The Draw
Generally friendly servers supply Irish car bombs to frats in hats, while stuck-in-the-past singles mouth words to juke-driven Def Leppard, No Doubt and Jovi jams others might not believe were paid for. Oddly not upper-crust given its locale, average-Joe drinkers suck on Labatt while ladies energize with Absolut Red Bulls, rocks. Jameson and Jack shots are cranked out as the night wears on, while a pool table--and meandering room--become increasingly sacred.
