Best comedy sketch shows anywhere!. The E.T.C is our favorite of the two Second City venues in Chicago (the other one being the Main Stage) because of its more intimate nature. Tables face the stage and if you arrive early enough (seating available an hour before the show opens) you may find yourself sitting right in front of the stage. This is my family's favorite thing to do in Chicago, although it is not suitable for young children under 13. The shows are always fresh, no matter how long into the run, a major achievement in my book. Come on Saturday and stay for the late night improv after the main show. Will call tickets can be purchased on their website and are always worth getting in advance.…

The Venue
Second City e.t.c. was opened in 1983 to handle overflow crowds from the consistently sold-out mainstage. It's a smaller venue (180 seats), but its shows have a reputation for
being even edgier than its more established sibling's.
The Experience
Second City e.t.c. patrons may be exposed to everything from sketch shows, improv sessions, satirical musical numbers--or all of the above. While beverages are available, there is no drink-minimum and no age limit. Seating is general admission, and begins one hour before each show; do yourself a favor and take advantage of that head-start to secure your choice of vantage point. Audience participation is a possibility depending on the show (many of the improv bits rely on ideas and shout-outs from the peanut gallery), so settling near the stage may bring wannabe performers close to the spotlight.…
