Editorial Review for Rique's Regional Mexican Food – by J.P. Anderson

In Short
With its sunny yellow walls, purple wainscoting and floral tablecloths, this two-room restaurant is a refreshing splash of color on the gritty Sheridan strip, with low prices that make it a popular spot for locals dining solo and on dates. The menu features regional Mexican dishes like caldo tlalpeno (simple, hearty chicken soup with avocado and lime wedges) and grilled chicken in tangy tomatillo and pumpkin-seed sauce, plus standards like tacos and tamales.

went on a saturday night the week of valentines day not expecting to get a table, but the place was comfortably full and the service was excellent. friendly and helpful. food was delicious- we got the chorizo flautas appetizer, chiles rellenos and some kind of chicken for dinner, and plantains and ice cream for dessert. total bill was $33. SWEET. plus, it's BYOB which wins me over anyway. the restaurant was small so it would be uncomfortable for parties over 4-6, nearly impossible for ones larger.

Pros: prices, byob, service

Cons: small if you'd like to come with a large party
