Great classes, but not worth the money.
I bought a groupon that gave me 12 classes/workouts for $40 at this gym. It was a great deal for the groupon, but now that I am done with that, I won't come back to this gym for a $149 sign-up fee, and $65 a month! DEFINITELY not worth that cost.
I am spoiled b/c I moved from the suburbs where for $65/month I had access to a HUGE, spacious, extremely clean fitness center, with media hookups to all the cardio machines to several tvs and different radio stations. (and a pool, and sauna, and steam room, and jacuzzi, and yeah...it was awesome).
This gym is "fine." It's small (but i've seen smaller in the city), fairly clean, and the staff seems nice enough and laid back, and it hasn't been too crowded when I have gone. It has exposed brick on the inside that's cool, aesthetically. And the classes have been AWESOME. LOVE them, especially the yoga classes, the cardio dance (i was sore all week afterwards), and the sculpting class--great stuff!
But I'm someone who likes variety in my workouts, taking not only classes, but using cardio equipment, free weights, and weight machines. All of this is subpar at ID gym. There are several tvs up (though recently they've all been on the same channel), but only the treadmills have hook-ups (not the eliptical or stair climber), and they are in awkward positions (like right above your head), so it's hard to watch anyway. and no hookup to the radio. You're either watching channel 5, 7, or espn.
The locker room (i've only seen the women's) is tiny and awkward. It's fairly clean, but again, tiny. If there is another person trying to get to their locker, there is no room for you to change.
There is a small parking lot right outside the door which is great, but twice it was full and b/c it's small it's impossible for more than one car to move at a time which can get tricky.
If you live nearby (which i do not), then the locker room isn't an issue b/c you can change at home. And the occasionally full parking lot isn't an issue either. So, for you locals, maybe it's an ok deal.
Editorial Review. This gym goes beyond the usual machines and aerobics classes to make you break a sweat.
