Great Boystown dive for those not seeking loud music or crowds. Cheap drinks and decent cocktails make this a haven amidst the madness.
This venerable Lakeview drinking establishment is North Halsted Street's lone Madonna-free zone..
In Short
Known chiefly as the only straight bar on a strip dominated by gay clubs, the tavern is friendly, affordable, and old-school, with Grateful Dead paraphernalia lining the walls and a jukebox stocked with the band's albums. The dropped ceiling, grungy carpeting and fake brick paneling say "old man bar," but young performers from local theaters drop in to stage improv and plays and practice their head shots in the bar's photo booth.
