Don't Do It!!!. I know others like this restaurant, but I had the worst experience there with the service! A friend and I went last night and waited for over an hour for food that when it finally arrived looked so unappealing I wouldn't have fed it to my dog. Our waitress was very inattentive and did not help the situation. Despite our inexplicably extensive wait, I had to raise my hand as if I were in the third grade just to get her to come over and refill my water. She brought me a refill, but did not bring my friend one even though she clearly needed one also. There were very few people in the restaurant at the time, so the long wait was incomprehensible and unjustifiable.

First, we were told the wait was because the potatoes were not done, but she didn't inform us of this until after we had already been waiting 45 minutes. When she brought out my food after ANOTHER ten minutes she brought me the wrong order, however there were potatoes on the plate. When she brought me the correct order, I still had rice as a substitute, which complimented two very small, dry, and shriveled lamb shish kebobs. My friend's meal looked equally disgusting and thrown together.

Long story short, we paid for the soup and smoothie we had as appetizers and left ravenous, as we wasted over an hour of our lives for food that was unfit for human consumption. Save yourself the trouble and head up north for real Mediterranean food and service!!!

Poor Option for Delivery. I placed a delivery order from Cedars a few months ago, and the experience was so bad that it still lingers with me. I placed the order at around 4PM, was told that it would arrive within 45 minutes. It didn't arrive until after 6PM! And only after I called them to ask about it. I had to speak with three different people to find out where my food was, and the manager was completely unapologetic. Needless to say, I have and never will order from them again.

Casual Middle Eastern restaurant in Hyde Park offers a huge menu to a diverse crowd of residents and college kids.. In Short
This modern Art Deco-style space has an exhibition kitchen and funky yellow lighting. The large menu offers Middle Eastern favorites, and appetizers alone could comprise a meal. Hummus, fatet makdoos (peeled eggplant in tomato-basil sauce), tongue-tingling chicken wings and spinach pie start things off. Some second-course options are chicken kabobs, falafel and lamb or beef shawerma with cilantro, red peppers and onions in tahini sauce.

Awesome All Around. This has got to be the best Mediterranean Restaurant I have ever been to. They have awesome food and phenomenal ambiance. Although it is listed here as Cedars of Lebanon the name has changed to Cedars Mediterranean Kitchen. As it should be since they have an open kitchen for you to see it all and a great brick fired oven to watch the pita bake and meats roast! WOW is the only way to desscribe this place!

Mmmm, D-grade. It's not so bad, though it's certainly not the best Mediterranean food around. A caveat: don't eat the meat.

You'll Be Going Back For More!. This restaurant has gotten even better! They have relocated to 1206 E. 53rd St, and now have unlimited free parking. The restaurant appears as if it belongs downtown or trendy Lincoln / Wicker Park. Delicious Mediterranean food in an American bistro setting, especially with their exhibition theater-style open kitchen. May be a 5-10 minute wait on weekends. Service is not excellent, but definately above average. Really close to University of Chicago / Museum Science & Industry.
