This Chicago-based restaurant offers a healty alternative to fast food..
In Short
First opened in 1989, Pockets was founded on the idea of making fresh, healthy lunches for people on the go. Custom sandwiches start with hot pocket bread stuffed with vegetables, meat and your choice of salad dressing. Favorites include the original pocket with lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, carrots, mushrooms and mozzarella (add turkey for a dollar more), the tuna pocket, Southwest pocket and more. Made-to-order salads are available, plus stuffed baked potatoes and calzones.
Prices to high for so-so salads. Better salads nearby for the same dollars..
Pockets just raised their price for the second time this year. This time they raised their price by almost 20% - ripoff. They were a good value; but now they are just-okay food at premium prices. For the same amount, you would get a better, healthy, lunch at Cosi or Max Kelly's wich are right nearby. Pass this one up until they adjust their prices.
Pros: nearby, healthy, now too much money
Cons: too much amone for an average salad
Delicious Vegetarian Fare. While non vegetarians enjoy their food as well, I find Pockets to be a great option for vegetarians looking to eat out. The pockets are cheap, delicious, and because meat is optional you won't pay for something that you won't eat. The Greek Pocket is really good, with delicious dressing on a greek salad stuffed inside their warm baked bread. The Southwest is also really good, for those looking for an American taste. Their delivery can be a little slow, but they make sure to make your food right. And their employees are very friendly, both in delivery and eating in. All in all, Pockets is a great option if you want great, cheap food that's actually healthy.
Over-rated.
Too long of a wait for the worst calzone I have ever had. Frozen "hot-pockets" give them a run for their money
Limited selection of toppings, and a bland sauce as well.
