Treated like a Queen. My Girlfriends & I were treated great. The Owner a short Italian man was very Charming & sweet to us & not in that creepy way. He got us an area where we could all sit together in the bar whch was just starting to get crowded. The food was quick & great. It gave you a feel of the older simpler times where there were still mom & pop places everywhere you turned. All the staff was personable & the regulars minded there own business & did not swarm us as is typical when my friends & I get together. A great place to go in Bridgeport
An oasis for every Soxx fan..
Ahhh, Jimbo's. Great for a beef sandwich and a few cold cans of beer before a Sox game. This place is usually crowded and never, ever takes any form of payment other than cash.
The crummy attitude of the staff adds to Jimbo's charm.
Sox-fan haven with uncomplicated brews and bites a stone's throw from The Cell..
In Short
This is the closest bar to U.S. Cellular Field--right on the north side of the ballpark, abutting the main parking lot. Before and after White Sox games, it's packed with baseball fans; the rest of the time, it's quieter, but still full of neighborhood folks. Most everyone is enjoying canned Miller Lite, and a sandwich-heavy food menu is available for those who can't wait for a dog at the game.
Pre-game fun; Post game pain.
I went to Jimbo's before a game and had a beer and a beef sandwich. afterwards, I met
more folks there and had a beer outside. Jimbo made sure that everyone sat outside. (he must be concerned about his outdoor permit) I was saying good bye to some friends and standing on the city sidewalk with no beers in our hands. His bouncer told us to 'move along'. We reminded him that we were on a city sidewalk and could stand there. He bounced into us and was a real jerk. I will not go there ever again.
neighborhood fun. Just cross Armour Park (across from the ballpark) you'll find Jimbo's. It's a simple little neighborhhood bar where you can mingle with sports fans and catch a game, meet up with friends prior to a Sox game or continue the fun after leaving the ballpark. Service is fast and friendly, food is decnt when the kitchen is open, and it's probably the most well known bar in the area. It's convenience to the expressways and red line make it an ideal spot to check out.
Neighborhood hangout. Jimbo's is great little bar for grabbing a drink before a Sox game. There is really no "scene" here: The people who frequent this place are unpretentious neighborhood folks who enjoy their beer and their sports--simple as that. The bartenders are efficient and friendly.
