Editorial Review for Kitsch'n On Roscoe – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
This neighborhood favorite revels in retro reverence, from the color-flecked Formica tables to the sun-yellow and lime-green walls. A Leif Garrett album rests on a windowsill, while customers entertain themselves with miniature Mr. Potato Heads, Magic 8 balls and other time-tested toys.
The Food
Despite the tiny kitchen, portions are generous, and food arrives fast. Enormous bread slices fan out in triplicate to build an incredible French toast tower, with sauteed banana, peach and pineapple compote. The Green Eggs & Ham ... Sam breakfast includes eggs scrambled with spinach pesto, scallions and smoked ham. And where else could you possibly order Twinkie tiramisu or a Pop-Tart sundae? Service comes with a smile, plenty of refills of Seattle's Best coffee and scandalously low prices. Kitsch'n is open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays only, when "TV dinner entrees" include fillet-cut portobello mushrooms served over herbed polenta and "Wow" pot pies.

Kitsch'n cooks up some of the best signature dishes for brunch in the city. My personal favorites: Spicy-Crazy Eggs, Chile-quiles (the hangover cure!), Fried Chicken and Waffles, and their Coconut French Toast! The staff is extremely nice, and the crowd can run the gambit from 20-somethings to old-timers. I'd describe it as kind of a dive-bar meets 70's-chic urban hipster place - but don't let that fool you because the food is great, there is good service, and the place is clean and oozes cool decor (set the wayback machine for 1975). The wait is usually quick for parties of 2, and the few times we've gone with a group it hasn't taken too long either (20 min. max) - the spicy bloody mary's help the wait go by fast!
Pros: Great Food, Homemade Spicy Bloody Mary, Nice Staff
Cons: Can get busy (but the waits isn't too long)

My boyfriend and I just had dinner here, and enjoyed every bite. The tortilla chip/mango salsa appetizer was delicious, as were our meals. I'm sure their breakfast and brunch are also quite tasty, but if you're not wanting to battle the crowds, try 'em in the evening. We'll definitely be returning soon!
Pros: Fun atmosphere, Delicious food
Cons: Cramped seating
