Awful. Just awful service. Don't know what happened. This wonderful little German Gasthaus has totally gone downhill. I've been coming here for 17 years, and never had a bad experience until today. Over an hour between ordering and finally telling waitress to cancel our order. We (my wife and 2 young daughers) came in around 6:30 pm on a Friday evening- daughters food came 45 minutes later, after the waitress said our food would be "right up"- 15 minutes later I found her in the kitchen, with our food still not being prepared. We cancelled our order, and when I spoke with the young man behind the bar, (who was the "manager on duty" he said there was nothing they could do. Apparently there is a new chef, but the restaurant was not that busy (about half full) and there were two cooks in the kitchen. The food in the past has been excellent and the service goood to excellent, but today's experience, and the management's complete lack of concern about the slow service and the server's lack of concern about the entire situation was simply apathetic.

I was stationed in Mainz, Germany for 2 years in the Army, and Resi' always reminded me of the wonderful little gasthaus located near the back gates of our base. The food had always been authentic and excellent; however, after the pathetic service we received and the lack of any response to a miserable experience leaves me disappointed and ready to find another German restaurant.

Until today I would have given this place 4 or 5 stars. Unfortunately I can no longer recommend the restaurant or refer anyone to the place.

Hope they get a new chef, better servers and overall better attitude to bring the place back to where it had been in the many years I had been coming there.

Great Place!. The Bierstube is a great place with great selections of beer and super delicious german food! Thier potato pancakes are delish and so is the cold german potato salad and hot saurkraut that comes with your meal. Great staff also, very friendly and courteous. Anyone who gives this place a bad review does not know anything about german food or german beer! Rock On Resi's...We Love You!

This is a Real German Beer Garden. This is a bar first and foremost, but the food is very good. You can't beat the German beer selection. Don't expect fancy dinining I see some of these other people talking about the place being cramped...it's a bar what do you want?? I don't think this guy MRJUSTICE has every eaten German food before. The German sausage is fantastic...BRATS, KNOCKWUSRT, WEISWUST . If you don't like bland German food don't order snitzel. You have to like German food... and if you don't don't order it and then bash it.

Oh yeah the beer garden is great....nice and open, quiet, relaxing.

Never Go Back!. Couldn't be more DISSAPPOINTED, after earlier reviews. Tho food priced ok, was WORST German food I've eaten. Jaegerschnitzel was like a flat brick pancake (God knows what mystery meat was under breading). Kessler Rib ok, but oddly for main course didn't include soup or salad. Only potato option for both was Fried Potatoes. Couldn't even 'upgrade' to 'famous' Potato Pancakes even for $1-$2 extra. Instead, you must pay $7.95 EXTRA (given quality of other food, wouldn't waste $). Adding insult to injury, tho huge Beer selection -- BIGGEST RIPOFF ever. Bottled Weiss $6.50. Draft beer an outrageous $6.00 for .5L mug a/k/a Pint. Never paid so much for beer in my life! Finally, no dining room to speak of -- perhaps 6 or 7 cramped tables along the Bar. Entire 'dining room' is SMOKING -- and, uugh, one creep lit up a camel-dung Stogie capped it all off nicely. Never go back!

Good Food GREAT Beer Garden. The food here is Good - not great. The service was excellent. A lot of Ex-Patriated Germans go here to drink beer. I have to admit, it was interesting to see BBK beer!! That is a beer from a place I lived in Germany called "Kaiserslautern". I lived there for a total of 6 years, and never thought I'd see BBK again.. We used to call it "Bad Beer From Kaiserslautern", but it is actually quite good! The schnitzels here are average, but tender. Go relax in the beer garden and enjoy.

Experience Oktoberfest every day of the year at this German beer hall.. In Short
The well-shaded, 12-table beer garden is lovely in the warmer months; the interior of this German hall is nothing fancy, with 1970s wood paneling, veneer tables and bingo hall chairs. But the working-class regulars from the neighborhood--some originally from Germany--most appreciate the giant steins of great, fresh beer. While some bars stock 15 beers, Resi's has 15 Weiss (wheat) beers alone. In total, the selection includes more than 100 on tap and in bottles.

Authentic German brews and fare. There's no shortage of German restaurants in Chicago, but there's only one Resi's Bier Stube. In the winter, it's great to cozy up in the small dining room or at the bar with a pint and with a dish of the best weisswurst in town. In the summer, the beer garden gets packed fast, but if you can snag a picnic table, hold onto it all night. This place always had a long list of German brews, but be sure to try the excellent Maibock, now on draft. The service is always super friendly and fast.

A wormhole to Germany?. Step inside Resi's unassumning doors, and you'll find yourself standing in Germany. All German beers on tap, lots of German soccer on TV, lots of German being spoken. Beers are served in .5 liter or 1 liter glasses, and what beer it is! Simply a wonderful place to come meet friends. In nice weather, don't forget the beer garden out back.
