Editorial Review for Pete's Pizza – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
Though more popular for delivery and takeout than dine-in service, Pete's has a simple, spacious, cafeteria-like dining room with a tile floor and hunter-green booths. Thin-crust pizza is the specialty here; the crust is firm, crisp and barely brushed with tomato sauce, putting the emphasis on ingredients like giardiniera, spinach, pineapple and anchovies. The restaurant also offers stuffed pies (allow one hour) and an ample selection of pastas, sandwiches and entree plates.

I would have given this place no stars, but one star was the lowest rating I could give. I used to order take out and occasionally picked up food there, but never again. I loved the rude lady that used to take your order over the phone. She was rude and saucy, but darn it she never ever got your order wrong. The food was always great and exactly what you wanted. I drove by and stopped in for lunch several months ago, I wish I knew enough to keep driving. I noticed the remodeling, and thought it was a nice change so I stopped for lunch with a friend. They should post a huge sign on the door that says under new management- run away. We assumed it was the same old pete's, great food at a great price. This was bad, disgusting food, at higher prices. I felt sorry for the waiter, he had a look on his face that said "sorry" before he even took our order. We should have run for the door, but we resisted the urge. We both hated our meals, even the soft drink we were served was flat. I ordered the linguini with clams, which I used to order all the time, used to be good. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted. It was inedible and after attempting a bite, I was not able to swallow it and tossed it right back out into my napkin. It was basically pasta boiled with clams with no seasoning and no type of sauce whatsoever. Stay away, the food is gross.
Pros: nothing good about the place, the staff, or the food
Cons: read the pros

This was a treat for me to go to Petes. I am from the Southside and I have family on the northside, my uncle used to take me where when i was little and now im 23 and love going there. I understand people concern for the declining lack of quality... since the new owners its not as "hospitable". I LOVE the food though, and i always have. As far as i know they have not changed the recipes, and i LOVE the cheese bread, OH MAN, i def. recommend that!! :) The place is really cute inside for being a pizza place, very modern looking. I have never had any problem with the waiters/waitress. They have always been EXTREMELY nice and helpful!! The bread they give you before your meal is SOOOO good! nice and warm and soft and fresh... and the pizza (i think its the sauce that won me over- sweet and very good!!) is great!! i will still continue to go there, i love it... i understand peoples concerns, OH and the bathroom is never "dirty" when ive been there!! I dont know what yall are talkin about?!?! TRY IT, make your own decisions on he place... but the food... IS SOOO GOOD! :) yummmm
Pros: food taste is GREAT!
Cons: sometimes its chilly inside :/
